  1. I won this book on ComicLink back in November, but had them hold it until I had another book or two to have shipped with it... I finally had it shipped, cracked it out and read it...crazy to think this is effectively Flash #5, and held up so well for almost 63 years!
  2. I'm leaning 4.0 with a shot at 4.5...I think the subscription fold will hurt the grade a bit... Beautiful book for the grade!
  3. This is one of the first Flash books I bought when I got back into collecting in 2000, and always thought this rendering of him was super-weird...
  4. Agreed...book presents nicely for the grade.
  5. This is very sad news...my condolences to his family and friends.
  6. It looks more like a printing error than a stain to me...I'd think if it were a stain the book would not have graded 9.2?
  7. Asking $1,850 $1,750, and the CGC label will be included with the book. Please see below for a photo of the book when it was slabbed, and I've also attached a copy of the graders notes. The one thing not noted is some light stains on the inside top of the front cover (you can't see them from the outside of the front cover), and I've included a photo of this as well. Back cover scan and additional images:
  8. Hi everyone, I made a few recent bigger purchases, so I'm selling my deslabbed copy of Tales of Suspense #52. Those of you who've sold raw books to me in the past know I ask a bunch of questions when I'm interested in a book, and I can say this book has none of the following defects: Loose or detached staples Rusty staples A loose or detached centerfold Chipping or dents Any printing defects (printers creases, smudges, etc.) I prefer to ship via domestic or international USPS Priority Mail, charge the exact cost for shipping and will cover the cost of insurance. I accept PayPal, checks or money orders. The first gets the book, but I will also entertain offers via PM. Since this book has been deslabbed I will accept a return or make things right should you not be happy with your purchase for any reason. Please No probies and HOSers, and thanks for looking! Art
  9. If it is indeed a bend and not a tear then book one appears to be the clear winner...
  10. I've seen several examples of slabbed books where the flap of paper was not folded down, so it's hard to say...
  11. I'm not a fan of tears as long as the one on the first book, so I would take the second book assuming it doesn't have any major flaws... However, the first book will look much better in a slab. Good luck!
  12. I was hoping to make it to next week's Berkeley show just to see the Winters Collection books from A-1 Comics, but don't think I'll be able to make it...it is a fun show though!
  13. I'm also thinking 6.0, with a shot at 6.5...nice copy!
  14. The book appears to be pretty solid to me, but if you have concerns about any defects I would ask the seller... I agree with @Sal that there could be something going on at the top of the back cover, and it looks like something might be going on at the upper right area of the front cover as well...could be some staining/smudging around the "N" of "MEN" and the issue number box...
  15. Maybe @comiconxion can weigh in here...I saw on @Dale Roberts website that he'll be setting up at this show, but don't see his name on the Torpedo Collectors' Convention website. @Robot Man, I'm also curious about the dealers you mention, as well as @Superworld...trying to decide if this show will be worth the trip down from NorCal...
  16. 6.5...nice book that presents better than the grade due to the stains on the back cover...
  17. If I remember correctly it was a three day convention last year, so they're reducing it by a day this year...
