  1. I just started watching this show after seeing this thread and am two episodes in...really liking it so far. Thanks for getting it on my radar, @sfcityduck!
  2. 5.0 for me as well, but I could see it possibly eking out a 5.5...
  3. I'm thinking 7.5 as well, but could see it possibly getting 8.0...sweet book!
  4. I totally agree with these statements... I'd leave this to the restoration experts, but the blackish line that forms the outer edge of the crinkle (when viewed from the inside of the cover) looks a bit weird to me, and leads me to think that the triangular area that makes up the crinkle was torn away from the book and sealed back in place with glue or something. If that's not the case, it's possible something was dragged over that specific area which heavily abraded it. I'd grade the book 7.0, but could see it getting 7.5...sweet book!
  5. 6.0 for me as well...book presents very nicely for the grade!
  6. I totally agree with this, and bought a Strange Tales #104 CGC 7.0 last year that was exactly like this book...four sets of staples on the inside but only two visible along the spine. This was not noted in the graders notes, and the only way I found out about the extra staples is when I cracked the book out to read it...
  7. It took me a moment to see the fingerprints, and they smudge the ink enough where I don't think a cleaning could have helped (I'm not an expert in cleaning though, so I may be underestimating what's possible)...
  8. The weather has cooled off in SF a bit since the weekend...be prepared.
  9. It's been a while since I've been to Alcatraz, but I would highly recommend doing the audio tour... The first time I went a friend suggested that I do it, and it added so much color and information to my visit that I did it again the second time I went!
  10. Should you decide to head to the Presidio, the Tunnel Tops park recently opened, and I heard it's pretty cool...need to find time to check it out one weekend. https://www.presidiotunneltops.gov/ Looks like you're having a great time on your trip so far, @piper!
  11. @piper, this is my favorite dim sum place in SF…great food at reasonable prices… https://lhklounge.com
  12. @Kevin Boyd, do you know when an initial exhibitor list might be published? I know the show is still over three months away so it may be too early to ask this question. As someone who would attend this show purely to shop for Silver Age books, I'll be curious to see if you're able to bring in any non-local dealers because it's Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks!
  13. I used to love going to Big Guy's Comics...I'm assuming this is the store that was in Mountain View?
  14. I was more strict on the Adventure #256 because I saw that the stain went through the whole book...graded it 6.0 as a result. I also thought the corner crunch on the New Mutants #98 would hurt the book more...graded it 9.2 thinking it might be 9.4. Makes me question some of the 9.4s I got back in my last submission...may have just run into some tough graders!
  15. Put me in the "not trimmed" camp as well... It just looks like a rough production cut, and I would not hesitate to buy a book with this type of cut for my collection.
  16. I totally agree with this, and bought a Strange Tales #104 CGC 7.0 last year that was exactly like this book...four sets of staples on the inside but only two visible along the spine. 17. Grades submitted...huge thanks to @CGC Mike for organizing and running this latest contest!
  18. 5.0 for me as well...presents very nicely for the grade!
