  1. >>Another book selling well for the last few months is Guardians of the Galaxy 1 from 2008. Easy $20 and going higher.<<<

    Ohhhh,

I see you have been reading my weekly #comicmarket report,

You indeed have a speculatory eye.

( Or do I NOT get credit for that pick on the CGC boards?, I forget the rules)

    :0

    Hmmm,

I "WONDER" what type of mainstream press for the comic book industry will be generated this week??

    http://www.freep.com/article/20120823/ENT05/120823031/DC-Comics-Geoff-Johns-coming-Michigan-debut-first-Arab-American-Green-Lantern

    Hmmm?

And I wonder WHAT book it will have an impact on?? And how can "I" short term profit?

    Hmmmmm?

  2. Thanks for the kind words Sir.

Just a friendly heads up to boardies: Green Lantern Annual #1 is out of stock at Diamond.

I'm NOT telling you to spend medicine money on it. It will NOT put your children through community college.

It's a killer book though. Key. Smart. Fun.

I would imagine that it is indeed the next Sinestro Corps one shot.

    Also.

If you speculated on the new 52 in the last year.

    You did pretty good.

  3. >>I'd also discount it because its coming from a retailer who is probably drowning in "hot" books that are just "ready to explode" in value<<

    Sleep tight "joecgcmaniac"

    That's not the case.

I was simply posting a friendly heads up for boardies from the front lines of retail. No need to be antagonistic.

Am I missing DC combo numbers on Comichron, or are they folded into all Justice League numbers?

The Justice League #12 combo pack could be a great bet. Alternate coloring on the cover.

  4. It should ALSO be noted that the last page of JLI annual indicates to "ME" that Justice League #12 is a MAJOR key issue to the new DC 52.

    Major.

(It may even explain WHY the new 52 formed)

JUSTICE LEAGUE #12 NEARLY SOLD OUT AND GOING BACK TO PRESS

JIM LEE TO CREATE NEW COVER FOR SECOND PRINTING OF THIS HEADLINE-MAKING ISSUE

JUSTICE LEAGUE #12, the headline-making issue that revealed a new relationship

between Wonder Woman and Superman, is almost sold out at DC Entertainment a day

before its on-sale date of August 29!

Now, this issue is heading back to press for a new, second printing, reprinting

the epic story by writer Geoff Johns and artist Jim Lee, with an all-new cover

    by Lee!

JUSTICE LEAGUE #12 Second Printing (JUL128164) is scheduled to arrive in stores

on September 26 and will be on FOC on September 3.

That window that I discussed up-thread has now been defined.

I'll sell 75% of my spec copies of Justice League #12 by 09-26-12

Green Lantern Annual #1 this week is an amazing Key that will be sought after for decades as well. :)

  5. It's a generic media hype book.

    We've all seen it before.

DC sent out a TON of press releases & got a TON of press.

    It succeeded. They sold out.

This book will NEVER put your children through college, but it will probably sell above cover price for a short window. Go to your local shop. Buy a high grade copy at cover price. Go to a con & solicit a FREE autograph & pay a fee to have it graded. Sell it on E Bay at a tidy profit. Isn't THAT what most of you guys do?

This IS the CGC forum. ( the collecting $ area of the hobby )

  6. My shop has done well with comics distributed outside of the traditional Diamond system.

This week we stocked the self/micro distributed Blindside #1 and did great with it.

Only a handful of shops carried it.

Online the variants are heating up.

  7. The Aquaman Robot Chicken cover was unannounced until AFTER the final order cutoff for retailers. You can't order extra's. NOBODY knew it was happening

    It's NOT a 50/50

This does nothing to affect the 1/25's

Shops basically get 1 for every 10.

My shop is mid size. I'll get 8. As of this second, I have 11 customers that want it.

    That number will grow.

    Supply < Demand

  8. Watch out for this one next Wednesday 8-29:

Continuing a recent trend ( Spawn 222, Walking Dead 101 ) of unannounced variants DC changed the original solicit info: (NOTE: For every 25 copies of Aquaman #12 ordered you may order 1 black and white variant edition by Ivan Reis which features the standard cover in a wraparound format)

    To a Robot Chicken variant.

Seth Green's stop animation show has a cult audience. They will NEED this book.

Should be HUGE. Get to your LCS early.
