  1. So true. DC had this thing about pitting weird alien beasts against their heroes, Challengers, Batman and Superman family books were especially dreadful, but it permeated throughout so many of their titles. Someone started a thread about absurd DC monsters - it might have been you Hep I have to admit though, I was very young and impressionable and eating it up, raised on a steady diet of 50's science fiction movies and TV shows like The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone. I just loved reading that junk. Granted it doesn't hold up so well over time, and probably is the reason why Marvel captured the older high school and college age readers dealing with teenage angst and such.
  2. Nice! I like the placement too.
  3. I currently have 9 in my registry set. BTW, I unobscurred my sets so if you want to check out the pedigree's I have in there feel free. Off the top of my head, I have a few Savannah's (4, 13 & 71), Rocky Mountain (36, 41) and a few Mohawks (37, 47, 48, 49, 51) and maybe more, I don't have time to look right now.
  4. That's a decent copy and I know what'cha mean, I got "the other" copy (just before this one was posted for sale). They're not easy to find in any decent grades - it was quite a surprise to see 2 in the same grade about a week or two apart. I'm still hunting for a Showcase #16 - which is also hard to find in higher grades. Some new acquisitions coming from various sources - I'll be posting these new puppies soon. Keep em' coming (thumbs u
  5. I couldn't just leave you hanging
  6. Thanks Bob. I tried to find it, but can't. I'll put more time into later. I found one, it's in the extended trailer, but I think there's another shot with it in it Frame 339
  7. I don't have the exact video (and I can't look at all of them now) - but it isn't hard to find - it was one of the videos that links to it were recently posted here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7793190&fpart=4
  8. GPA is $4,525 What does gpa say about the 5.0 I sold last month for 10 k $8,365 Will these (4.0 and 5.0) eventually show up on GPA? Not my sales I wasn't sure
  9. . . . so cool that in the trailers for the TV show Barry's carrying a magazine with the word "SHOWCASE" in the title. I never would have imagined I'd see this day come.

  11. I can only imagine. It's certainly one of the best books being offered in this rather thin auction. -J. +1 this auction makes me sad. Why is that? Well besides the dispensable cash part (most of the books available are still running on the cheap side), there are so few nice books in the auction. even truer
  12. I can only imagine. It's certainly one of the best books being offered in this rather thin auction. -J. +1 this auction makes me sad. Why is that? Because, if we had 7k sitting around we'd all go after this book. so true

  14. . . . imagine how many orders for notes they got on this one book already? Cha-ching
  15. I would guess they will, but can you believe (if they have them that) they don't post them?
  16. I'm not really sure it shows all that much better than the one there at auction, but neither book has a photo of the back cover How anyone can sell a ($7k) book like this without a back cover scan, is beyond me.
  17. This book is finally starting to catch FF #1 - a 5.0 copy of that book is selling for around $7k.
  18. Still a full week to go though.... -J. And of course the final minutes even seconds the bidding can be very active.
  19. The next issue was pretty cool as well! ("D" copy thanks to GATor)
  20. I was trying to remember where I saw another cover that had WW and a Kangaroo. It was Sensation #6 http://www.comics.org/issue/2210/cover/4/
  21. Got a much-needed copy of a book for my personal set from Francisco. It was, as expected, a completely hassle-free transaction, and the book was packed as I would my own books, promptly shipped with cordial communications throughout the experience. Love the book, and appreciate the ease of dealing with this trusted board member. Thanks! (thumbs u
  22. Nice! (thumbs u I didn't know WW was a southpaw! She probably can switch and do equally well with either arm
