  1. Nobody can answer this for you...it all comes down to what your goal is for the book. If the book means something to you personally...then who cares what the grade is. If you're trying to flip books for profit....a 7.0 X-Men 1 is a pretty sweet book compared to a brand new modern that should be nothing short of a 9.8. I love picking up key books in the 7.0-8.5 price range and having something I would never want to pay 9.8 prices for, but they still present well and make an awesome collectible for me personally.
  2. Found a high grade Batman Adventures 12 1st app. harley Quinn at a garage sale for $0.50!
  3. An order I shipped one year ago for CCS pressing / Grading finally just billed to my credit card yesterday for just the CCS portion. I still can't see status because it's been over 8 months....but I'm curious what others are experiencing currently for a turnaround specifically from CCS to Graded? I truly hope it's faster than had I just handed them the books for grading as of today. One would think an order that has been in their care for a year now wouldn't have to go to the back of the line for grading at this point.
  4. I shipped my first order to CGC on 6/21/21....they waited two months to acknowledge they received it, which again...is just an artificial tool to give them room to delay working on your order and what used to be uncommon becomes the norm. So they had 17 of the books waiting at CCS to be pressed...I used to be able to look at that order and see status, but apparently after eight months...they remove that ability which implies by even their standards your order has been there so long they can no longer maintain your active status...lol. Now after manually plugging in the order numbers...it just says "received" with no further status. This company REALLY needs to work on their customer service. If your demand is so high that you're over a year out on processing your work...then you can afford to grow your staff to process the work. It's basic...and I truly believe artificial....because they offer "express" options....if you are willing to pay MORE....you get things faster. Instead of a single flat rate and better service for the vast majority of customers which I think we would all agree with helps more of the community...nope...if you want to go economy class...you get to wait for as long as they want.
  5. I have two near perfect 9.8 books that unfortunately fell victim to some previous tape pulls on the back covers at some point. The “fuzzy” left over sections of back cover are maybe 3/4- 1 inch square…but otherwise the books are perfect. Do you think even a 9.0 would be possible with that much pull damage? The books are an Omega men 3 ( 1st lobo) and a Ghostrider 1 1990 volume.
  6. I suppose my point is CGC holds all the cards and worse, they can change the rules of the game. First, they start their artificial clock two months AFTER actually receiving them....so that's nothing but a mechanism to try and save face with these "estimated times" by shaving off two months of your actual time just by playing a word game of not officially "receiving" them by their standard. Then, they can extend your wait time for basically forever if they want to....my point is if my books have been sitting on their shelf for a year...my turnaround time shouldn't be today's turn around time...it should be closer to the turnaround of when I actually submitted the books. Yes, I'm complaining...but I have NEVER dealt with a company that thought 1-2 years turn around time on service was acceptable....and again, clearly they can do it faster....if you pay more right?
  7. I literally sent my books in a year ago....my status that I used to be able to review has reverted to "no status"...which means by even their standards...after eight months they give up lol. I sent an email asking for my orders to be cancelled and my books be sent back to me at my cost for shipping for basically no services rendered in a year. When I sent them in, turnaround for CCS was about 150 days...now they tell me 250 days...so when you send your books in doesn't matter? They can just keep ignoring your books because you didn't pay for "expedited" or "express"? What a scam....had I known then what I know now...I would have used a private presser. A friend did so and got his stuff fully pressed and graded and back to him in just four months. I'm now expecting CGC to tell me "sorry, you cannot cancel"....they hold all the cards....and I will be lucky to see my books back somewhere between 1.5-2 years....YEARS!!! Also have to live with the stress of god knows what's happening to my books while there for over a year...I have seen and heard of horror stories of CGC damage to books during this process that was NOT there when the books were sent in.
  8. Yup…set it and forget it for about a year and a half at this rate. Im disgusted at this company for having to wait truly about a year and a half for CCS and Grading. I was unaware of private pressers when I made my first submission…if demand is this high for your product, increase your workforce and thereby increase revenue…this is insane,
  9. Count yourself lucky that the pressing was completed...I'm at one year waiting on CCS....and in fact, CGC removed the little information I did have with status after eight months...like my submission has timed out even by their standards. Now I just get a line that states "received with no further status" when it used to say @ CCS pressing with a date. I would cancel the process and have my books sent back to me for private pressing at this point if I could. It's ridiculous to have to wait over a year for such a service and a failure of CGC to not increase staffing to match the demand that clearly exists. Because they offer "express" services for a higher price...the base tier gets shoved to the back of the bus....which is creating alot of hard feelings to this business. If they were smarter, they would increase the base cost, get rid of "fast track", hire more staff to meet demand and improve sales / turnaround times across the board.
  10. Yup...I was not aware a year ago when I sent my first submission in. I have a friend who used a professional presser, no additional cost when compared to CCS...and his books are already graded and on the way back to him in a total of three months turn around. Now I also have to worry that CCS will do a lesser quality job on the books than his presser did and I will have to make the choice to crack them and use that presser after waiting a year and a half for this order. It's unreal...and at this point I've already surpassed the "turn around time" that was estimated when I sent this order in a year ago....so the bar keeps moving instead of being even remotely close to the time frame of when I sent my books in.
  11. This is insane...the demand clearly exists for CGC to grow their company and reduce these turnaround times. It's very difficult to not see this as an artificial way to pump up the fast track / express sales by making the base grading services slower and slower.
  12. I submitted my first 25 book order nearly a year ago. I ordered CCS pressing on 18 of the 25 books. I already received the other 7 books back. The 18 I needed pressed are still sitting there in "received" status...and then it struck me...am I looking at the current 245 day turnaround time ONLY for the CCS portion of this? Then I will have to wait another 93 days turn around for the grading on top of that? I guess I thought waiting a full year for CCS and Grading was plenty long enough as it was...but now my heart sunk with the thought that I'm looking like I won't see these books until maybe 2023?
  13. I sent in 25 books back in June 2021….I didnt understand CGC would split the order out for some moderns without pressing and some with pressing and so on. So basically I got the 8 modern books back recently and had emails for tracking and everything was fine. Now cgc shows the whole order complete, not tracking available for the other 17 books I still have not gotten back. Trying not to panic..but seriously…as of right now, you would think your books as just gone in the wind like the Grinch took them. Lol
  14. I sent in a total of 25 books back in June 2021 and 8 of them didn't need to be pressed. Those 8 are now showing as being graded / encapsulated...but the other 17 books are still only showing received at CCS. So my question is if the 8 books get done being graded...should I expect CGC to send them by themselves or will they hold them until the remaining 17 books complete their process as well? Thanks.
  15. Can you send any amount of moderns you want up to 25 at a time or do you have to send in a minimum amount? Can I send just one book or just three or etc?
  16. I sent a total of 25 books in, I asked for 17 of them to be pressed by CCS and 8 of them are at grading currently without the press. If those 8 complete before the CCS, which of course will be the case....will CGC wait to send all 25 back at once or should I expect to get 8 back and then the 17?
  17. I will definitely have to check my original submission form later today when I'm back at home. Its just been so long I don't recall being alright with not requesting CCS pressing on any of them.
  18. So I submitted 25 books recently, I could have sworn I requested CCS pressing on all 25 books just to be sure as I'm new to this and don't 100% trust my grading skills yet. I just got a message that the books are in process finally, and 8 of the 25 are going to grading, but the other 17 are going to CCS. So I will double check my invoice tonight to make sure I did everything correctly, but I had the random thought that CGC might look at your books and if they determine CCS won't help the grade, do they take it upon themselves to help out the customer and cancel the CCS request? All of the 8 books are moderns and were in great shape...I wouldn't be surprised if they would have all made 9.8 anyway....just a random thought.....kind of a nice concept if they thought they were all 9.8 or better and saved me the effort and cost. :)
  19. I recently sent off my first cgc order for 25 books. The combination of what I sent and what I am having done came out to about $1000 total cost. I guess I assumed I would be charged the full balance at the time I placed the order, but no charge has come through yet. Can I expect to be billed once the submission hits their books or at the end of the process? Final followup question, I paid for the $149 tier membership…is CGC reliable with applying that credit automatically or do you have to ask for it at some point? Usps is showing the books were delivered roughly four days ago.
  20. I have four perfect, unread condition Marvel Comics Presents 72 issues that all have the same weak printing ink fade spot on them on the teal section of the book. Otherwise, they are amazing copies. Would you spend the money to get them graded and do you think cgc would grade them without care as its a common printing error and is not from sun fade or damage? See scan..upper right of the skull...near edge of book. All four copies exactly the same.
  21. So I got back into the hobby about a year ago and thought the cgc 9.8 presale stuff on ebay seemed like a good way to go. Unfortunately I have to recommend avoiding Hotshot comics due to my personal experiences. They have sent me some slabs, but only seem to be the ones that didnt increase in value. They outright cancelled my Department of Truth presale when I asked status of the order after four months of waiting and the two Last Ronins I’ve been waiting eight months on. Im not just on here complaining, but sharing my experience as something to be aware of if you’re going this route.
  22. Hello, I’m digging through my old collection and came across five copies of this book in nm unread shape. They were literally bought new, bagged and boarded and put away. I noticed all five of my copies have slight color fade just on the same spot above Wolverines left hand on the upper right of the cover. I did see a 9.8 cgc graded book on ebay with the same faded teal spot...but some don’t have this fade. Its clearly not from damage of wear and tear...but more similar to printer rollers or fading ink toner at the printing process. Should i still roll the dice and spend the money to get them graded? Seriously other than that issue all books are perfect.
