I am happy with my 6.0. Don't get me wrong I am thankful for every book I have. I remember when 20.00 was the max I would pay for a book.

In the case of SC4, this book has been a case of missed oppurtunity and bad decisions for me since 1988. At this point, unless a deal shows up I am done with SC4. I need to move my PLOD which was a holder but I am in no hurry. I am excited to see renewed interest in the book.

I was wondering if someone was going to post this book. I am amazed at the lack of inventory. Right now that is the only Showcase 4 on ebay. I think six months ago there was a half a dozen.

I think my dreams of an 8.0 or better may be fading.

Thats a pretty cool piece.

But that pullback should be a signal to buy for any collector who has been waiting.

I think a complete collection can be put together. And a high grade one (7.0 or better) at that. You just have to be diligent. And really throw some money at it. That is what Keith did. He put that collection together in a relatively short amount of time (under five years). He made it very clear that he would pay more than anyone. He never turned a book down either. Because of that, for the years preceding his sale, every high grade war book that went anywhere near a dealer was immediately offered to Keith. And he was over 90% complete through the 12 centers when he sold. He has since completed the G.I. Combats and Rock Our Army at Wars again, all in killer shape. So it can be done.

 

I have been amazed at what he has been able to acquire as I believe this 2nd or 3rd attempt at the collection seems to be even higher grade than the first.

 

I don't understand the guy. Why would he sell his collection and then immediately start pecking away at the same books?

 

 

His personal circumstances changed and the comics were used to take care of more important matters.

A lot of times we sell books when we really don't want to. Its the realty of holding high dollar books. But as they say, "C'est la vie."

Always the one to throw a damper on the party.

Or maybe the one willing to face reality.

So in the last day, four people have declared they are trying to get them all just on the boards. I can see why supply is tight.

There's a new 9.0 that's going to be on the census soon.

One of my favorites and one that hopefully won't leave the house.

Yes it is and I challenge you to find it in 9.4 and above. It is a tough book.

I would take 131 all day over 168. My favs run from 121-149. Then I like the Ross Andru covers in the 180s.

I guess that 6.0 for $4500 that didn't sell on ebay, had a chilling effect on prices.

Cooled off until the movie either delivers or damages value I suppose.

 

The record price so far for a 6.0 is $4500...so it's just not ready for the next level yet. I would hold and wait for a breakout.

 

If SC #22 follows suit with the other SA keys, then a pullback should happen after the movie is released. The time to buy will be later this year, or even next year, as the collectors and speculators move onto the next book (B&B #28 has sort of calmed down, but it looks like SC #4 is where the speculative money is heading to now ).

 

In any case, I am waiting a bit longer to rejoin the club. (thumbs u

 

 

B&B 29 also came out before GL1.

 

Speaking of BB28, is it the 4th appearance of Hal Jordan after SC24 or does he appear elsewhere before then?

Richard, I'm doing really good. I've been on the ballfield almost every night with the boy and I have been away from the boards almost a month. It is all-stars and tournaments start next weekend.

Has anything happened on the boards other than Mark selling that bad SC 4 and an Action 10 selling for a huge number. I wonder what I should do with my 13?
