  1. Got banned by an over-zealous mod on the Comics Heating Up (CHU) Forums.

Had a problem with the inconsistency in the moderation by a particular mod, and this mod was on a tear - threatening suspensions and bans to multiple members, including me, for the slightest thing he disagreed with. Was warned by him to not question him publicly, so started a discussion with the mod in PM, and was promptly suspended. Back from suspension, realized the guy (in PM's) had asked me to respond to his comebacks, while I was actually suspended and couldnt (go figure). Was suspended again after engaging in a discussion that said mod had contributed to, and didnt like me disagreeing with. The owner, Anthony actually told me to avoid the mod, and I tried my best.

Mod finally banned me after I questioned him, when he threatened another member with a suspension or ban, saying he felt I never liked him and I was a troll.🙄. Eh, the mods prerogative ...

For the record, CHU is a great site, and all the mods (except the one) and most members are great. Very informative articles, and good discussions. Only issue lately has been over-criticizing of other comic-related sites over book tips and store variants.

In the general sense he really isn't wrong. Only a very small % of variants increase and gain over time.

'Very small % of variants' - really general sense ...

On another Forum where comics supposedly heat up, a so-called 'pundit' said - 'rarity does not equal desirability'.

All valid 'general' viewpoints - depending on who's selling, who's buying, who's collecting, FOMO, price buy-in, price sold, profits expected, time sold, etc. and many other factors.

    But I digress !

MY INITIAL POST WAS IN KEEPING WITH THE TOPIC OF THE THREAD !

  3. I agree with you. This is a complex issue. I'm OK with creative differences in comics, and new comic publishers, but using 'labelling' to justify the change just smacks of divisiveness/controversy to sell, even though the content (story/art, etc.) should really be the deciding factor. I believe most comic fans understand this, and dont blindly accept it (my reasoning for my 'No' answer).

  4. Not trying to create controversy or debate the issue. My POV - There are a lot of folks trying to think independently, making difficult decisions they may not agree with. To your point, there is a large swath who rely on others (media, etc.) to make their decisions, but I still believe there are many who make decisions based on logic and situation. For every situation I mentioned, there may be two or more sides to consider.

  5. If I posted 'every' variant I encounter, I would have to quit my regular job. These are some specific variants that are sought after by collectors, speculators, etc. (ex. by Royle, Campbell, ratios, etc), that may be available for preorder or on sale, AT A DISCOUNT !. They may also sell out quickly ! I am sharing with the community so that someone gets a chance at it.

If waiting for cover art, chances are you'll lose out on the book and/or price. With TFAW, you can preorder, and cancel before the FOC listed, thereby ensuring you have a copy at a good price. Others (Midtown, etc.) dont allow this.

In a nutshell, I am posting some 'cheap variant spec' that are available at the time I post. YOU need to follow-up on whether its worth your time and effort to research it.
