  1. Temptimg but the reviews are abysmal for Mercari
  2. That's what I am seeing too but Blowie is amazing with his search powers.
  3. Blowie, are you finding one for this price or is that what you paid? I bow to your google superiority.
  4. Great history, MM. When I was a youngster in the early 70s, we lived in a small town and I would walk main street and dig through trash bins for pop bottles since they could be returned traded them in for comics. My mom bought some books for me too. I still have all of mine too but my first comic started with Defenders #2 in 1972. Were you allured and drawn to any of the pulps? I'm an avid old time radio listener with the Shadow being my favorite - any memories of radio shows like favorites and did they spur you to buy a comic if the character was featured in a book? Or the newspaper comic strip sections like Flash Gordon and such? And what about the old serials (again, I am an fan of the serials - Buster Crabbe, the King of Serials, my personal fav but the Captain Marvel serial is my fav serial and I believe regarded as the or one of the best.
  5. $90 for the 8250? That is a heck of a deal from what I have seen. Not sure on the price of Vuescan - I was using the trial when I was messing with the 7610.
  6. Thank you, Richard. I replaced with the 31. I'm surprised someone actually looked
  7. Hey MM I have lots of questions and you may have shared in your Top Two thread so may have missed them. First, I assume you had limited comic money to spend, so how or what made you pick the books you did - was the cover, the character, friends telling you, something else? Where did you buy the books, a newsstand, drug store, bith, other? How did you get money to buy the books? What made you think to hang on to them and were you ever tempted to throw them out? Did you collect anything else? And I will stop with this one - do you have any pictures of you as a youngster with or reading your comics? If so, it would be great to post them here or in the Pictures thread. Thanks
  8. That dirty old thing. I am using it as a dustpan
  9. Thanks Tim and Andrew. I was totally ignorant of this. So new scanner shopping, I go.
  10. It does, Greg but looks like Tim and Andrew identified my problem.
  11. I hope this is okay to ask independently of the Legal Size Scanner Thread but I was afraid if someone does have an answer, it may get lost or overlooked in the main thread. I was wondering if anyone has used an HP 7610 large format scanner for scanning slabs? And if so, have they been successful with sharp images? I cannot seem to get a good scan with slabs. I have used Vuescan and NAPS2 with different settings and no good. My old microtek scanmaker v6upl finally gave up the ghost which I loved. I'd buy another one but can't find one even on Ebay. Since I already had the HP 7610 which I mainly use for printing and it has a large format scanning area, thought I would try it and not have to buy another scanner. Thanks for any help.
  12. I did the undergrad and continue all of her insurances and living expenses. I am hoping my ex pays for grad school which the kiddo starts this Fall and that has been our agreement Although nothing specified in the divorce decree. If it falls back on me, student loans are on the horizon.
  13. I wanted to get a MH National and remember them being auctioned. Haven't they or at least some come up periodically since then? Isn't there Larson #1 in like 6.5? I have a few peds in my runs and at one when I was more eager, I wanted to add other peds but finally my wallet spoke some sense into me and I was able to pay for daughter's college.
  14. 26-30 26 is a great image of Uncle Sam. 27 is another cool war cover. 29 is the San Fran ped that I found in the wild.
  15. A presentable copy but there is a cutout in the middle of a page that affects the story. I think otherwise, this would be around 3.5/4.0. Does this get a NG or a .5 incomplete with the piece missing? Does it just lower the grade. I probably posted too many pics. Cutout pics are the last three. Thanks
  16. Radio Berlin to the golden years of radio and tv
  17. Here are 21-25 which again, I think have some great covers. 21 is a special favorite of mine. I doubled up with two copies of each 24 and 25 - 24 has a Statue of Liberty cover.
