  1. Jeff, I didn't. I felt the price we agreed to was fair and I didn't want it to appear I was trying now to bicker down the price. I was still pleased with the deal or I wouldn't have made it in the first place.
  2. Just from a buyer's perspective - I agreed to buy a high dollar book (mutli-thousand) here on the boards via PM. That same day I saw two other copies online - same grade (CGC), virtually same eye appeal, one with the same PQ and the other higher PQ. I would have saved $400 on one and nearly $300 on the other. I didn't even hesitate to follow-through on my commitment to purchase the one I had agreed to buy here. I would loved to have saved some money but integrity is something I hold in the highest regard. It was worth it to me if nothing else to maintain the trust I feel I have earned in the multitude of transactions I have made here and elsewhere but that's how I try to live my life. I guess in simplest terms - a deal's a deal.
  3. This is one of my favorite BA covers and a title that I don't think gets enough love. From a submission a few months ago and for now the lone highest graded.
  4. And that's it - I didn't include the text pages and pics of Dave himself.
  5. A little while back, I had posted that I had won Dave Stevens Just Teasing hardcover in an online auction. This is the limited edition S/N edition measuring 11.25x15.25". Finally took the time to take some pics of the interior plates. All stuff we have seen before but the paper quality and size of the print really makes you appreciate Stevens' brilliance. I thought I would share the pics.
  6. Just got a nice group of Bronze keys from Paul. He is definitely one of the best people on the boards to deal with. Great communication, fast shipping, and freebie friendly Thanks again, Jeff
  7. Here's a group I picked up a couple of months ago
  8. That guy's repeated disregard of forum guidelines should have been the first clue bad things may happen.
  9. Had a great transaction with Gary. The communication was great and he is awesome to work with. I hope you enjoy the pulps. A great, big, hearty KUDOS to one of the best!
  10. Awesome book and one I haven't seen before outside of a Gerber pic.
  11. Not in hand yet but I picked up a signed/numbered copy of the Deluxe Edition of Just Teasing.
  12. Not going to quote each one but these are very cool - The Suicide Squad, The Creature and Catwoman - just fabulous. Here is my first commissioned piece by the Brothers Fraim - a different take on All-Winners Comics #4 - can you name all the characters...
  13. If you want to add another sale - I purchased a CGC 4.0 white pages here on the boards in March/2011 for $1,400.
  14. If the PM parade hasn't stopped, please send me one. The curiosity is killing me. Thanks.
  15. Out to acquire complete runs of: America's Best Comics Black Terror Exciting Comics Fighting Yank Startling Comics Thrilling Comics Wonder ComicsSome years ago when I re-entered the hobby after a nearly twenty year absence, I decided to focus almost entirely on Golden Age books. I had a few but most of my collection (that I had retained and sat dormant) was Silver and Bronze Age. I loved Timelys but they were far outside my budget for the most part. Also, given that I am inclined to be a completest and want to get entire runs, I know Timely was a publisher I could afford. So what to do - the Nedor/Better/Standard line seemed like the place to be. They offered everything I wanted plus at that time they were fairly affordable (can't say the same today) as I really don't consider them a poor person's Timely. My desire was to get nice presentable examples of every issue. Grade wasn't a huge deal although most of my current collection probably falls around 7.0-7.5. So the quest began and still goes on. I picked up many dupes as I have upgraded as I have gone along. Some peds are scattered throughout, some highest graded examples also. To date, I have completed the following:America's Best Comics (the only run that is all slabbed)Black TerrorFighting YankWonder ComicsI lack around 65 issues to complete my quest. Still at this point, it is not a lack of finding issues - it is a matter of fitting into my budget. And since I stray from this focus often - most recently I purchased a Spider-Man #1 for my Marvel SA collection (now just lack the big boy AF #15), my funds continually get depleted fairly quickly. I have gone through stages of getting out of the hobby again to making purchases like a man with nothing standing in my way.For now the quest goes on, and on, and on.....To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here.
