  1. In answer to your second question, yes. I've known Wilt since 1969. I traveled with him to at least one of HoustonCons in the early 70's where I recall him buying a copy of Action #1. He attended one of the OAF reunions three or four years ago and as far as I know he's still around and doing well, but I haven't seen him since. And yes, the self portrait of Dorian Grey is hanging in my closet. Wilt was a HS teacher, although not mine nor did I attend his school; but a friend of mine did. I remember going to Wilt's house. I was probably in 9th or 10th grade so around 1978 or so (I know it was before I had a driver's license as my mom would drop me off there). He took me to his garage where I had never seen so many boxes of books. It wan't too orderly which made it even more exciting. I spent hours there on different visits. I bought the book below from him and still have it. I remember mispronouncing his last name and calling him Mr. "Conan" - his name is pronounced Conine (like Co and the number 9). He politely corrected me but I thought Conan sounded pretty cool for Wilt - especially with his beard and all. He also told me about Alan Light's Buyer's Guide which I subscribed to. Some few years ago, I got rid of all those issues. Just didn't have any room for them and I kick myself for that all the time. I had been a subscriber since the late 70s. Mr. "Conan" is much closer than you think; as I recall he was a high school wrestling coach back when I knew him. I probably handled that very book as most of the OAF members had the fortune of looking through his Timely collection when club meetings were held at his home. I'm going to test how good my memory is now. My recollection is that he lived on NW 80th Street in OKC, at least back in the late 60's and early 70's; if that's right then I remember his house number as well, but I won't post it since as far as I know he and/or other members of his family still reside there. He either lived in Nichols Hills (the older part as there are some extravagant homes in that area and he wasn't in one of them) or the Village neighborhood. It could have been off of 80th and May Ave. or Penn. Ave. So that may very well be correct. I know that area because it was close to where I grew up and still where my parents live. Thanks for letting me relive some very good memories. (thumbs u

  3. Howard Morris Did you know Wilt Conine?
  4. Ok after 30 years my memory is hazy but with a little web searching I found the con. It was MutliCon 1981. It wasn't the OSPG cover but it was yellow and smallish in size and the timing was right. I found it along with with other cool history on the Oklahoma Alliance of Fandom BlogSite. Here's a pic of the program - still need to find mine.
  5. It easily could have been something other than SoonerCon. I need to find that program - I'm sure I have it somewhere. We most likely ran into each at some of the Oklahoma cons. I actually set up a few with a buddy of mine. I remember the program was nothing fancy, smaller than 8.5x11, plain yellow paper and had Cole's OS guide cover on it. If you find something, please post. Thanks!
  6. I have that ST print. It is by Ken Barr. Also,Not sure when you left Oklahoma but were you still around in 1980 or 1981. I think it was a SoonerCon when LB Cole was the featured guest. It was around when he did the cover to Overstreet's price guide (#11). I wish I could find the program - I know I have it somewhere but I had Cole sign it. He was such a nice gentleman. Great memories and thanks for starting the thread.
  7. Oh the memories. I bought my first GA book from Bart at that store - All Select #10. I also bought the Mile High Cat-Man #13 from Bart back in the early 80s. I still have both books. I saw Bart a few years ago. He has a store in Norman called Atomik Pop.
  8. Also in the box were some CBMs and these ERB-DOMs and a couple of other early fanzines. Added a few more RBCC pics too.
  9. I picked up a box full of RBCC recently (I know not published during the GA but they contain GA material and articles) I took pics of just a few that I thought some of you might like...
  10. I actually met Cole at a convention - He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was snot-nosed high school kid who really didn't know who he was but I got his autograph and I just remember how polite and kind he was. Even though I appreciate his art and have several books with Cole covers, I appreciate Cole, the man, even more.
  11. Ordering from Hotflips always gives me a warm fuzzy - Jeff and Charles are the (thumbs u Thanks for the quick delivery and always friendly customer service.
  12. Cripes - those are SWEET books, Bill
  13. Not really comics but I won some bulk lots in a recent HA weekly auction. One was for a box pulps and the other was for a box fanzines. I haven't gone through all of them but I love this stuff. Fanzines include issues of ERB-DOM, several issues of RBCC and Comic Book Marketplace (including a nice copy of #2). Looking through some of the ads and stories brings back many memories and regrets. A couple of pics from the auctions -
  14. A beauty, Josh. If and when I finish my Nedor collection, Aces. I've started with some Four Favorites and Super-Mysterys already. Neat books for sure.
  15. Thanks, bro. Good luck on yours too. I'm mainly a GA guy but this has been fun going after these books. I had the Avengers and DD from long ago and have slowly been adding them to my set. I was real happy with the Hulk #1 I picked up a little while back. It is only a 1.8 but presents great and has white pages too.
  16. I hear ya..I bought one CGC PLOD key Marvel....Its not that bad! I still like the PLOD key book alot! You look right past that purple at the history before your eyes! (thumbs u Good luck on your last two! Just wondering what is on your list of every key Marvel? So many people have talked soooo much about what is a key and whats not...Jut wanted to see your list. Here's what I have included in no particular order: Avengers #1 - Have Avengers #4 - Have JIM #83 - Have TOS #39 - Have Daredevil #1 - Have TTA #27 - Have TTA #35 - Have Strange Tales #110 - Have Hulk #1 - Have FF #1 - Have X-Men #1 - Have Spidey #1 - Need AF #15 - Need I am considering adding Sgt. Fury #1 (most likely will include) and also FF #4 and #5. I have thought about JIM #85 and Spidey #14 but this could keep growing. I already have some minor keys like TOS #57 and 59, ST #101, Sgt Fury #13 and others but that list can keep growing too.
  17. Thanks guys and yes the AF #15 scares me. Just going to have to bite the bullet and do it. Want to stay unrestored since all others are blue labels.
  18. Two books away from completing my Marvel SA keys collection (AF #15 and Spidey #1) since this one arrived today
  19. I picked this up from HA a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure if this would be BA or SA but for me 1970 and up is BA.
  20. I too am not a WW or big DC fan but I'd go with the All-Star 8.
  21. Sharon is the bee's knees Hard to top what everyone else says because she the BEST and deserves all the kudos she gets.
