  1. Among being the worst Phantom Lady cover - her feet are just all wrong
  2. Blue Beetle for me (thumbs u - never heard of that Batman character.
  3. T, i've always called that thing mashing tojo's head a 'flail.' growing up, marvel's hercules had a little deal he brandished that they called a mace, which stuck with me. anybody clear this up? and nice looking y.a., sir. Billy, you are correct. A mace doesn't have the chain. You ole' weapons guru, you.
  4. I picked this one up not too long ago - love the mace to Tojo's head and the look on Hitler's and Mussolini's faces:
  5. Even as primarily a GA collector, I'd go with the AF#15. I know it is not the highest graded example but it'd my choice of the two.
  6. Many thanks to Dave/thehumantorch - a super nice guy. He even threw a GA freebie. He's one of the best.
  7. That #52 has always been one of my favorite covers. Great books! Your Action collection always amazes me.
  8. Very nice! I want to see the mask ad on the inside front cover. Some of those look pretty cool.
  9. Wish I could have both but since I've never been been a DC guy - why change now - Cap #1 for me.
  10. Didn't want to start a new thread for this but I posted a lower grade Mystic Comics #1 in the grading forum and took a pic of the Destroyer splash page. So I hope it is appropriate just to post a splash page here - I thought it was pretty cool with Hitler and Tojo snakes:
  11. Jon Are you saying/thinking Hit #5 cover is not Fine? Isn't the Scoop #2 cover by Sultan? My point was that people swipe Lou Fine style. And that the Scoop 2 is an example of Sultan 'swiping' the cover concept from Hit 5. (which Fine may have swiped from others). However, it is the nature and quality of his artwork that some see "Fine elements" in the art of others. This all started with the question of who is the cover artist for Weird 2 jb Sultan, to me, was the one that came the closest to emulating Fine. I know Sultan did Major Victory - did he also do the covers on the three issues of that title. They just don't have the same zip as other Sultan covers I have seen.

  13. Posted the TNMT in a separate thread but wanted to show the other two I also got back:
  14. I'll take the Atomic #1 simply due to the provenance. My choice was the Timely, despite the provenance. I think the popularity of the Timely book plus the better cover trumps Mr. Church's storage methods on this one. (thumbs u -
  15. That would be my sentiment also. The Tec #31 is one of my all-time favorite covers even though I'm not a DC collector.
  16. Tough one for me - The Adventure has Burnley's Starman and the first Shining Knight by Flessel. Plus a white page MH but that MM is very cool starting with the Fine cover and it is a pedigree also. I'd go with Mystery Men Comics #1.
  17. Very nice, Sharon. It was the Lou Fine Black Condor and Ray stories that made me a golden age collector. I remember buying the Alan Light Treasury of those reprints and seeing how incredibly good Fine was.
  18. Bravo Billy. This is a run I am working on along with Ghostly Weird Stories which continued this run. Still need a few copies so I am very envious but hey do look very nice.
