  1. Worked with Jim on a 4 figure sale.. quick and easy!.. just how I like it! Wouldn't hesitate to deal again!
  2. Without any hidden defects this book is a solid 5.0 imo
  3. Love doom and this is one of my fav SA books No interest in ever seeing that movie, never have , never will
  4. Or ask for a back cover scan and then make a decision to take it. The only purpose of taking it pending a scan is to try to take it off of the market while one decides if it is what they want. Point being missed is, deal was agreed on pending pics , then sold hours (day) later to someone else PENDING PIC AS WELL , (who obviously offered a better deal) after the fact That's where the problem lies
  5. Conditional offers happen all the time in the business world. Constantly. Seller's don't have to accept them and bind themselves to perform. But if a seller does agree to the terms and does bind themselves to perform they have to follow through. No one here offered to take the book unconditionally. Does that hypothetical relate to what happened to Gambit ? There's a pretty big problem if a seller agrees to the buyer's offer and his conditions and promises to send a scan and doesn't do so and instead takes another offer with the same condition attached that came in after he already agreed to bind himself to the first buyer.
  6. Well, he agreed to whatever your terms were and locked himself in to provide that scan to you. It makes me lean towards he agreed to all of your terms and agreed to take on the responsibility to provide that scan of the back cover directly to you allowing you to make the decision to take or leave the book. He stopped short of saying "it's on hold for you", but his words an actions are a lot like a deal where one part accepts the other party's offer, contingencies included. His performance is certainly lacking. He promised to take certain actions and then reneged. At the very least what followed these PM's is extremely poor communication. His initial post lacks required details and he's fuzzy on several important items. I don't think I'd force a deal with this guy. He probably did you a favor. Original asking was not a deal by any means (especially with that spine roll) and spending significant money with someone who's light on details and lax with promises is not a great idea. Update your personal list and mark this one down as a bullet dodged. Chris, this was the buyers take it: Both buyers seem to be conditionally taking it. Has there even been a sale at this point? I spoke to the buyer short after I noticed his. "I take it" and he told me he already paid whats very sketchy and annoyed me was after the new buyer posted "take it pending BC pics " (10 hours after I already agreed to terms with this seller ) the listing was closed, item paid for and "so sorry" reply sent to me , all within 10 min time, which to me looks like this was a deal worked on while he waited to send me promised pics. This is just wrong.
  7. Thats what was said AFTER he sold to book to someone else , 10 hours into our agreement Comix- that is exactly what will be done . I wanted to bring this to light to avoid dealing with this seller and let others be aware on how NOT to conduct a sale . Shame
  8. The seller agreed , never send scans but sold to to a buyer who 10 hours later said they'll take it pending scans (which he must have provided to them / and not me- due to better offer That's not how to conduct a sale
  9. eriqio- Hi , that sounds reasonable! I'm currently out at the moment, but promise to provide a back cover scan when I get home. I can have the book sent out tomorrow if everything works out. Thanks, My reply - Sounds good! we got a deal! (thumbs u. @ xxxx ,pending BC scan ---------- Seems like an accepted offer to me
  10. Usually , an offer accepted is an offer accepted , regardless . Hence we have time stamps to file who "got it first" ( which was the same "pending" condition of the buyer, sold to) Unless I'm missing something
  11. Sorry buddy about that deal. Personally I am weary about buying from someone who offers Personal Paypal as it's NOT allowed by the rules. Plus his description doesn't say much about returns or how hes gonna ship it, unless he edited his first post. Stay away from that guy IMO. Again sorry. I'm sure some will also chime in about said sales thread. Don't know why it made it that long with the "no fee" option or no return statement. Mods? edit: I copied and pasted the first post for others to see just in case it gets changed. See spoiler below. Thanks man, I reached out to the new buyer and the seller to let them know the deal. I just want to boards to know , this is not how to conduct a sale here. A shame this happens too often. And my "personal ban list grows!" - wish there was a place to nominate "bad" sellers. To aware the members here.
  12. Hi all, Sadly, I have to enter this into discussion. I had a deal in place last night with seller/member "eriqui" @ 11:31pm - upon providing back cover pics, (which he promised to have by the end of the night ) for an agreed upon price. (Via PM - with proof) , He doesnt notate the book is "pending" in his listing, which (of course) leads to someone else popping the "itakeit" this morning (10 hours after our agreement). with the same conditions (pending BC pics) - I notify the seller of what just happened, and he tells me the book has been sold and "there's other books out there, good luck" I just want everyone to know of this situation since it seems to be happening more and more of late, and this is NOT how we, on these boards conduct sales. ugh
  13. That is truly one excellent 4.0! I think the book would have graded higher but that cover crease on the right side is the big reason that book isn't in a 4.5/5.0 holder. Nice copy though and more importantly it came back in a blue label. Agree 100% , great book either way!
  14. Plus white pages on ANY grade dd1 will get a premium being its one of the hardest (marvel) SA keys to find with WPs
  15. That said, back in the day I never thought Batman's popularity could ever eclipse Superman's Come on Old Timers…you know what I'm talking about! Not an old timer, but I agree... However this isn't the same case. -Dc has superman/batman then everyone else - in marvel theres quite a few in between Spider-Man and hulk (popularity wise)
  16. Hungry for hulk1 to pass af15 eh?, not happening (on level playing ground , sorry) Comparing a MC poor eye appeal af15 to an old label, outstanding eye appeal hulk 1 is t the wisest of comparison to "try" to state a case IMO
  17. It sold for the full $17k. -J. Not even that pretty of a 4.0 IMO. I was thinking the same thing. That scrape area under spidey's arm is pretty bad. I think if I'm shelling out $17 I'm going to wait for the best presenting 4.0-4.5 I can find. Hold up. Are we back in 1970?.... I agree, if I pay premium . It's for a copy I am looking to keep
  18. Maybe I'm just thinking of how many really bright white covers I've seen. I actually think DD 1 (and Avengers 4 for that matter), are books that tend to have lower page quality. 100% - especially with dd1, There's a nice premium if you can find one with white pages! Non the less , an AF15 with white pages is
  19. Daredevil 1 with white pages?? That might be one of , if not the rarest of ALL SA keys with white pages!
