  1. Just bought a CGC graded book using this coupon. Not the greatest buy but I found out about this 15 minutes ago and didn't have the time to do an appropriate search before the clock was going to run out on me. I'll agree that GPA is going to see a spike in prices across the board as people I'm sure were willing to pay a small premium to GPA for books they wanted if they could snag it at 20% off.
  2. Don't know anything about modern comics. Have come in to an unbroken run of Batman issues 629-680. Any issues of note? What would be the best way to carve up this lot for sale?
  3. Have a Strange Tales Annual 2 that is in decent enough shape to consider grading. It has a Stan Lee signature on it. I was wondering what deduction in grade it would possibly get hit with because of the auto. Anyone have an idea on average what the grading ding is for uncertified sigs on a comic book cover?
  4. I have one in the same grade with a little lower page quality. I guess I haven't been keeping up with the prices because on my sheet I have it listed at a value of $3,500. So someone educate me.... is this roughly the new price level or is this sale some kind of outlier?
  5. Chuck has made a wise business decision. Ton of prep work. Ton of work setting up. Ton of work breaking down. Lots of expenses. For what? Little to no money? He doesn't need the exposure, Mile High is well known in the hobby. I'm sure there is a part of him that is sad at the moment but I think he'll be quite happy with his decision.
  6. I love the treasuries. I have a high grade run of the Marvels. Death to Antifa. I have a few of DC's but for some reason I just never felt any want to complete that run. I guess I'm just a Marvel guy.
  7. Production error. Yes, and production errors get a GLOD now. Or didn't you know that? I have a CGC blue label of this book. "Distorted hologram on cover" is noted. Hologram is a solid blue that never changes. Anyone have an idea of what it might be worth?
  8. Thanks for the heads up on cda-shop. Blocked. Blocked. Blocked.
  9. I'm probably fairly typical of the "old time collector" mentioned here as the likely holders of many of the existent copies of AF15, and I can tell you my copy could be worth $1 million, and I wouldn't sell it - because then I wouldn't own one. One. Million. Dollars. Holy mess.
  10. I have no earthly idea how many copies are out there. I do know that if the day ever comes that a cgc 1.8 can bring $7,500 I'm selling mine and blowing the money on cheap booze and young women. Thanks Spidey.
  11. So a book with a piece out of the cover will grade lower than a book that has an entire side cut off?
  12. So I wandered into the modern forum on Friday and saw this discussion. Without doing any kind of research or even giving it a few seconds thought I went and immediately bought one of these boxes. Is being a lemming going to work out for me this time?
  13. Someone on another board said they had encountered one of the biggest collection of individual_without_enough_empathys they have ever seen on the internet and then provided a link to these boards.
  14. So how rare are these? I have one. Are there any reported sales showing these versions are bringing a premium?
  15. If someone started a thread for debating first appearances it would fetch lots of replies and tons of views. That would be good. And it would remove the discussion from this thread. That would be great.
  16. Not having books back that where submitted eight or nine months ago is just flat out ridiculous. Haven't seen customer service that bad in a while.
  17. I haven't purchased one in ages but I remember my old Overpriced Street Guide use to have an "(extreme violence)" notation next to the Grips listing.
  18. Well, I just received a pm from Comicseekers and was informed he wasn't giving me one penny. I'm not surprised. I predicted as much in conversations I had and am still currently having with people about this whole scam. As I said in one pm - "I doubt I've been put on his Christmas card list." At the time I had made the initial post about all of this I wasn't completely aware that it had all been a larger scheme he had come up with to steal peoples money. I simply thought I had entered into a bad transaction. Promised 300 Marvel/DC comics. Received less than 270. He "guaranteed" no more than 5 copies of an issue. I received massive amounts of duplication far in excess of that. He listed a grade range of vg-vf/nm. The entire lot, except for the worthless Heroes Inc issues, were in g/g+ condition at best. It became apparent immediately that he had lied to me in pm's prior to the sale and that he wasn't going to do anything to correct the situation after I had received my big box of garbage. The number of lies he was spewing was starting to mount and after conversing with some other people who had also purchased these lots from him it was obvious it wasn't just me he was deceiving. By the way Comicseeker, if you are reading this (and I'm sure you are) the lie you told in the response to the paypal claim about being able to sell the Heroes Inc comics for $15 each made me laugh out loud. When he told yet another lie about the composition of the boxes, and in doing so implied that Filter81 was a rip off artist, he unwittingly unleashed the final piece of the puzzle. Adam came into the thread, told the truth and exposed Comicseeker for what he is. A liar. Further information released by Adam showed that Comicseeker had told another lie in the sales thread itslelf when he claimed he was selling the boxes for exactly what Adam had charged him. Fact is he was charged $100 a box and sold them for $150 per. And only after he had cherry picked the boxes he claims he never opened. So, here we are. I've had $150 stolen from me. Others have had far more than that taken. He needs to be banned from ever selling on these boards again.
  19. My first post contained the following sentence. "Wouldn't issue a full refund." I tried to get my money back. I wouldn't have posted anything here without having contacted the seller first.
