I've always been worried that this series was just too costly to chase but it's not as bad as I thought after watching for a bit. Yeah it's been a while but off the top of my head, if we're only talking about #100 on, I would say the toughest are probably #102 and #103 ... keys include #112, #114 and #118, as well as #124 to some degree (Herc's real first appearance is in Annual #1). Not sure if you are going to continue past that with the Thor run, but there are tons of beauties there, starting of course with #126 which is an all-time classic cover. You'll have a lot of fun with this! Edited December 14, 2022 by Sweet Lou 14 KirbyJack, universal soldier and namisgr

Popular Post KirbyJack
I rank the Kirby run of Thor as second only to Fantastic Four: ahead of Amazing Spider-Man (Just my opinion). As Lou says, once he really finds the character, Kirby opens up a cosmic playground for him. Sooo good. jayhawker, universal soldier, Sweet Lou 14 and 2 others

universal soldier
And we're off! Bunch of mid grade books with the 115 being the nicest of the bunch. I have collecting squirrel so bad. KirbyJack
Popular Post namisgr
JIM #116 is also far less common in NM or better shape than other neighboring issues. There are only 12 examples 9.4 or better in the CGC census. That compares with 15 for #100, and 12 for #103, the other issues with the lowest NM or better numbers from 100 and up. My former best copy: Edited December 23, 2022 by namisgr Sweet Lou 14, jayhawker, silverseeker and 3 others

Once Kirby gets past the Mr. Hyde and Human Cobra stuff and really finds his stride with stories and opponents that better fit the hero, it becomes positively majestic, reaching levels of grandeur matched only by his work on FF. Agree with this. The issues in the 120's and early 130's (up to when they brought him back to earth) are the best in the series IMHO Sweet Lou 14

By far the toughest for me have been #94 (stuck on 8.0), #102 (settled for 9.4 CR/OW), and #103 (stuck on 9.0).
silverseeker
I just received this book I won in an auction at the end of last year...was a CGC 7.0 that I cracked out to read. I'm bummed that the story inside doesn't match the epic cover...Thor fights some guy named Thug Thatcher and his goons... KirbyJack

Just do what the rest of us did; read it, look at the pictures, and suppress Thug Thatcher forever from your memory! I had 100% forgotten him. silverseeker
