One low-key reason is that I've always loved the covers (almost all of them Kirby covers BTW) with the color gradations in the background. I don't know if there's a better name for what I'm describing, but here is another example from the JIM run: As I recall, most of the time when they did this coloring technique they used yellows and oranges and browns. Aside from JIM #89, I am not able to think of any covers where they did it in shades of blue (and pink and gray). I eventually got it after not getting the previous ones. I also ended up getting the #84(8.0) cause it could not find a copy of it anywhere above 7.0.
