AF 15: Qualified vs. Restored vs. Universal

14 posts in this topic

Now this creepy auction of a partial copy of AF 15 is over and ended at $1.675.00.

If anyone has GPAnalysis or keeps track of sales, I'd really like to know how this sale stacked up to CGC copies of AF 15 at:

CGC 0.5 Universal (and/or 1.0-1.8)

CGC 6.0 Restored (Slight)

CGC 6.0 Restored (Moderate)

Along with any CGC 4.0 to 5.5 Restored copies, as these are more attractive buys than a copy missing 10 full pages.

Come on, several forum members stated interest in how a CGC 6.0 Q affected the price of what is effectively a Poor comic, and someone must have some data.

I have the data.

But I wasn't interested in the thread.

C'mon data-havers! Give! smile.gif

Actually I'd like to see the data on all the 6.0 and below AF15s (restored and unrestored) for some reasonable period of time.

It is my opinion someone has a [!@#%^&^] cover AF15 and will be filling in this one with the pages, or using this cover on their pages.

Looks like restored copies are going for slightly more than the qualified sans-10 pages copy at 6.0:

MA (6.0) - $1,801.00 - Marvel Comics 1 1962 1 Jun 2003

MA (6.0) - $1,854.00 - Trimmed Marvel Comics 1 1962 1 Aug 2003

MP (6.0) - $2,247.00 - Marvel Comics 1 1962 1 Oct 2002

A 4.5 restored went for slightly less:

A (4.5) - $1,600.00 - Marvel Comics 1 1962 1 Mar 2003

Thanks for the numbers, and this makes me feel even more like that Qualified POS went for way more than is logical, unless some insufficiently_thoughtful_person is trying to create a Frankenstein book from old parts.

I'd much rather own a CGC 6.0 Restored book (no trimming) with color touch, etc. on it, than some incomplete, half-the-book ripped out, Qualified monstrosity.
