somewhere in the early 70's.. probably just looking at first grin.gif

I forget... did we buy from the same place in Gainesville..."13th Pharmacy?

Nah...I lived near Littlewood, so I'd buy my off-the-rack books at the 7-11's around the Royal Park Plaza/34th street area.

I used to tag along with my mom to the "The Book Gallery" downtown (which was across the street from the courthouse) to buy most of my comics. 10-cent back issue bins, and actual "collectible" comic books in boards/bags back in the 70's!!

Cool!

- Banner & I live in the same town today.

- Banner & bronzebruce13 used to live in the same town.

- Smokinghawk & I grew up in the same town.

- hkp & I went to the same grad school

...all without ever meeting, from what I can tell. We ought to figure out how to do a "Six Degrees of Separation" for the forums here!

PS-- Oh, and I've never read a Hulk 181! 27_laughing.gif

OK - I kept in the spirit of the poll and voted "before 1960". But I gotta ask ya. What can possibly be gleaned from this? I mean, why is 1960 lumped in with "and before" as if anyone before 1960 shares some common bond with anyone else before 1960, yet there seems to be an individuality amoung the 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 folk.

I mean, really. Is there something special about 19991 vs 1992 that makes for breaking those years out? Or 2000 and 2001? Or 1967 and 1968? What about 1966 vs 1979?

And how special would it be to actually know and hear form those who who WERE reading comics in 1938? Or 1942? Or 1947? Or 1958?

So - I don;t get this poll. It reminds me of the AARP junk mail I get. And I tell ya, if I get one more piece of AARP junk mail, I will be tomorrow's newspaper headline the day after I receive it!

I thought this too pov, why all the individual years?

It would have made more sense to at least go for 5 year blocks in order to define some sort of pattern. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Simple Pov - I wanted information on the actual year people started reading comics (not 5-year blocks), but I didn't want to have to list each individual year going back 100 years, so I arbitrarily chose a cutpoint of 1960. confused-smiley-013.gif

I agree - it would be interesting to know the actual year for the pre-1960 group, and even more interesting to hear their stories, and since you're so interested in it I'll leave that post up to you. thumbsup2.gif

Thanks for playing! grin.gif

Dagnabbit I HATE when folks are reasonable and polite. I mean, it is like "Thank you for your response. It is appreciated." Darn you and your generously polite ways! insane.gifstooges.gif
