best x-over (x-men crossover)?

i'm not that well versed on x-men, but was thinking about picking up some trades. what x-over should i look for?

Not sure which of these are available in Trade format, but most people seem to think the Dark Phoenix saga is one of the best X-men stories.

 

Personally my favorite X-men stories are Days of Future Past, The Age of Apocalypse (the original not the weak miniseries they put out last year), and The Phalanx Covenant.

I think the 'Fatal Attractions' x-over is also worth a read, that's the one that culminates with Wolverine having the adamantium removed from his body (forcibly) by Magneto

One of the first real X-men x-overs was the Mutant Massacre of the Morlocks. This is probably still my favorite. It ran through Uncanny X-men, X-Factor, New Mutants, Thor, and maybe a couple of others (Power Pack?). The ramifications of this event are still being brought about, plus it was the first Wolverine vs. Sabretooth.

Mutant Massacre is fantastic. The Phoenix Saga is the best however. Days of Future Past is highly recommended as well.

I did not intend to lure you in(sincerely) with that tirade but I am selling a chunk of Classic X-men in the for sale section. The great thing about these is that they have backup stories that are usually on the more human side of things. I really think they add dimension to them merry mutants.

I agree you totally on those stories and also on the Classic X-Men (even if you are selling some )

I recently bought a run of the Classic X-Men and thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the storylines

The Days of Future Past - by far the most ingenious story they did, sure the Phoenix Saga is the epic, but for pacing and story element that you are not sure where they are going and what happens next (in a good way) this story is my favorite.

 

Sure it sparked enormous continuity and time line problems for the next decade, but the original story is amazing. The Days of Future Present story, which is an actual cross over event in the Marvel Annuals a few years back is not too bad either.

One of my personal favs was Extinction Agenda. Mutants are captured and their powers are taken away. Forced to fight each other. Archangel vs. Wolverine. Probably the most vunerable that Wolverine has been in awhile. Plus Jim Lee art doesn't hurt.
