Hey vintage Hallowe'en folks...can anyone tell what the heck this lady is pulling behind her in this card?

I'll take a stab...it's a tool to cover her tracks so that creepy Jack-O-Lantern head can't follow her home. Just a guess. (shrug)

Awesome postcard BTW. Some of those are crazy expensive depending on artist, age and condition. Sound familiar? ;)

Its a grate(laymans term). Farmers use it to level out the fields, remove rocks and brushes. Usually done before the start of the planting season and right after.
So why is she using it and what's the veggie man want with it?

Great card, I used to have one! It always baffled me as to it's meaning. there are a lot of old fortune telling method's shown on the cards, and that's the only one I don't understand.

OH, and I am toying with doing a limited softcover of black & white art, but it's going to be several months until it's ready.

That is what I was wondering. hm I originally thought it was something akin to a rake or till at first, but I couldn't understand the context then.

Maybe the pumpkin man is there planting seeds plus keeping the owl away? Ok, I'm reaching here, but I at least get extra credit for the attempts, eh?
