it's rude. It's hijacking a common area dedicated for one purpose, for your

own purpose. "This is a comic board, but I'm interested in baseball so I'll

post about baseball."

 

Because the boards are more than a disparate group of comic book collectors. For the regulars, it's a group of friends, and those friends have interests beyond comics. When my son was born last May, I sure as heck wasn't going to post about it to a bunch of strangers in the water cooler, but I knew that my friends in Comics General would want to know. If there are horrendous fires in California, it's good to know that our fellow board members are okay, and if they're not, that they could use our help. Rail all you want against OT threads, but they're often the most popular threads in Comics General.

I see Cal's point to some extent and also agree with many others

that an off topic post regarding something of a personal nature

like a wedding , birth or something spectacular or even tragic in

our daily lifes is okay. I would only want to share that info with

the many friends I've met on the comics boards.

 

I've been to the Water Coller and survived but didn't know as

many of my friends I know here.

 

I think like the rules of the boards state that OT threads in

moderation is okay as long as it's kept to a reasonable small

percentage. I hate to see Cal upset or angry and after that

weekend with all the strikes, I thought we would make a better

attempt to be more civil to each other for quite some time.

The boards just seem a little too heavy for me today. :(

 

Just my 2c, maybe only a penny. (shrug)

Hello. Is it possible that we could ALL start posting non-comic-related stuff in the Water Cooler where it belongs? We are all adults and this would help keep the Boards more organized and quicker to get to the comic-related items.

I read the whole thread and then came to my conclusion after

promising myself I wouldn't get into this one. I hope my comments

haven't added fuel to the simmering fire. :wishluck:
