I'm in the market for a slabbed TOS 40 or a very reasonably priced raw one in Fine or better.

Please grade my TOS 40....This is a test of your apparent grading skills and as to your skills at restoration detection (pick all if any you think have transpired)....If you choose to accept this mission.....

THX and have fun

I bought a NM copy for $300 from Fantazia eons ago.....20+ years around the time I bought my TOS 39 (not from Fantazia, but my LCS). They jacked me around, kept my money, never sent the book, claimed it was sent to Arkansas (not Alaska) and then finally returned my money around a year later.....never got a high grade copy......

I guess I should be happy that Danny Dupcak never sent the book as it was likely monkeyed around with.....but if it was....why didn't he send it.

It might have been a real beauty, but I'll never know.

I sold a G- on ebay around 5 years ago for $70.....wish I still had it.

There are a ton of these on Ebay right now, but I want to get a decent price.

Thanks to anyone that can hook me up.

at a minimum, that top edge has just got to be trimmed (when compared to the other 3 edges).

I have a pretty decent copy of this around somewhere..................

It's the only SA title I want to own in higher grade...

I don't have a Burntboy book yet....

I'm ready for the pm with an offer and image.... (worship)

Please be kind :luhv::cloud9:

RESTORATION: Pressed lol

My Guess:

PLOD 3.0

Color Touch

Spine Split Seals (Spine reinforcement is the term I think)

Staples Replaced

Trimmed

:acclaim:

edit:

Regular tear seals along with the spine ones. doh!

Here's my take on it....

I'd graded it a 4.0 years ago....but hey, maybe a 3.0-4.0

Color Touch

Tears Sealed

Spine Split Sealed

Glue on Spine

Pressed

not sure on trimmed, but I didn't look for that, but from the scan....looks like it.

Thanks for all the views....Cheers

yeah I know....I'll have to look at it closely, but I have no reason to believe it's not trimmed with everything else going on.

No fair taking extra off for the restoration....grade it as an apparent condition.....and not the resto work....

Don't grade it, then deduct more for the restoration....if it were unrestored, what would you call it......if it looked just like this one?

3

3.5

4

10

When it includes trimming then I think there is a small deduction since it involves butchery to the edges of the book.

If I check it out and it doesn't have trimming you'll need to add .5 to the grade...

How can you not see the color touch....

You better not buy any comics until you can find it....it's everywhere.

Maybe that's the problem.

So much of it that it does stand out.
