  1. D I think you meant “Gray Beards” or “pencil necked geeks”. And don’t forget “Lot’s of Birthday Money to throw around”... He was always entertaining...
  2. I agree with you completely. I always wanted to complete the famous funnies Frazetta set. The problem I had was that the main characters often looked like teenagers for some reason...still, love ‘em all including the wsf 26.
  3. I wish - that went to a fellow boardie in a large group around 8 years ago.😩
  4. Hi Scott, still out in San Fran?? Saw a note from you the other day and meant to comment. Will be around for a good long time, hopefully. Have a new Grandson to look after...Harry
  5. Thanks so much - will be spending more time here. have a new grandson to take care of...
  6. Thanks Dan, been so long I can barely remember how to do things...🤓
  7. A Fellow boardie pointed out to Me that the $7500 5.5 sold on eBay fell through and has been relisted at $8000. He also pointed out that the most recent sale of a 5.5 elsewhere was $5500. It might also be wise to mention that the last 4 sales of 5.0’s during the past 3 months averaged $6500. Just putting things into perspective.
  8. Captain Red Pants!!!! Hope you’re well after all these years...ever hear from Paris Fred??
  9. Long time since I’ve even been on the boards, but it time to raise a bit of cash so here goes...posted this a few minutes ago on the wrong forum🤪. Up for sale is a nice copy of Daredevil #1 CGC 5.5. I was caught a bit by surprise to see what’s gone on with almost all Marvels in the last two years. The most recent sale of a 5.5 on eBay went for $7500 only a month ago. There are others in this grade asking for even more. This book has likely not been pressed as a few of the pics will indicate. The price is $6750 with free shipping. No returns for CGC items. No HOS’ers or Probies. First “ I’ll take it” here wins. Thanks for looking and sorry for the screw up...Harry
  10. The auction ends tomorrow. Prices up to $84000 and $15000, respectively🙀. As you correctly pointed out, the gap between the two books was slowly closing. Guess the cachet of being the very best (#1 universal) accounts for much of the difference.
  11. A late night update; the Mask #1 in 8.5 up to $79,000 with BP. The #2 in 7.5 lagging far, far behind at $12,600 with BP. Less than a week left...
  12. Just saw this thread and took a quick gander at rue ongoing auction. The #1 in 8.5 with OWW pgs is up to $46800 (with BP). The #2 in 7.5 with OWW pgs is up to $10500 (with BP). Both have 13 days to go. Safe to say that as expected the #1 will shatter all records. I’ve always wondered, are there actually 2 Church copies??
  13. Good hunting...👍
  14. Nope-they can be ordered online. They have sizes that hold 3 to 12 magazines. The books in the photo are in Mylite two’s with fullbacks. They just fit in. They’re available in light, medium and dark oak. As soon as I saw one, I had to have it. Prices vary widely - at first I was looking at $400+ for one this size 🤕 but then found Homesquare on the net and got it for $222 w free shipping. Here’s another pic after a quick shuffle last week;
  15. I read this excerpt from Testament and knew I’d read it before. About 11 years earlier (1990) Heavy Metal did an interview with Frank at the Museum. While by no means identical, the story is the same. Yet it seems He actually gave the interview here back in 1972 for a Burrroughs fanzine. I’m including a photo of My magazine rack from my office/comic room with some of My Frazetta covers. The aforementioned Heavy Metal is in the lower right corner. I believe I have every one of his Warren covers and much of his other magazine covers. Always looking for new stuff... Let’s see if this works.
  16. Does a comic case need to be broken/scratched for reholdering? For example, just to get a new label and perhaps a new description if restored and some of that is now deemed to be conservation. (Such as an EP to an A2). Does one risk a regrading if grading has become tighter since first submitted? Does the fee for restored books that need a new label (due to new attitudes towards tear seals and reinforcement) increase? Thanks for any insights...
  17. Responder 1: thank you so much for the detailed explanation... Responder 2: thanks for the confirmation. To both: I have such a book and bought it after it was removed from it’s case. The dealer was quite upfront about the book and it’s issues, but never mentioned the fact that it had been graded before. At one point he actually wanted to buy it back. I was only concerned with the possibility of a NG. Always knew it was restored and it’s quite a nice copy which should be worth multiples of what I paid for it regardless of the grade. Again thanks for taking the time to answer my question...
  18. Let’s say we have 3 scenarios. In all instances we have a GA book that looks like a f/Vf 7.0. (Assume book moderate professional rest). 1. An interior story page has 1/3 of a page missing. 2. Same page has the 1/3 piece professionally reattached. 3. Same page has the 1/3 page recreated by a professional. What are the likely grade drops for all 3 and will any get the NG? Thanks for any thoughts...
  19. Now that I’ve sorta relearned how to get a pic on here, I’d like to add my former fave (which I still love): This one scores with Me for it’s beauty and the fact that it contains the 1st appearance and Origin of three Characters that are still kicking around for the better part of 80 years...
  20. Can’t argue that point - they are both awesome covers. But I kinda like the “moth to the flame” theme on # 1...
  21. Great backstory Sharon and a lovely copy to boot... I loved this thread so much, I got excited and posted My fave in the wrong thread. So I’ll try again here with an unenhanced photo from My IPad. I picked this as my new fave based on it’s remarkable breakout this past year.
  22. Sorry for my confusion over the last two posts - thought I was in the “single favorite book” thread. And no, I wasn’T drinking
  23. This is now my favorite after the remarkable breakout over the last year: And this has slipped to #2, but it’s still a thing of beauty...
