Questions on Seattle Show - Emeral City Comicon - May 10/11 2008

11 posts in this topic

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has been to this show. I am thinking of driving down to it from Vancouver and was wondering if it was a decent show to attend. I have not been to a good show in at lease 10 years.

Just wondering if these is a good selection of dealers (gold? silver?) and thinking of brining my whole family and kits (they are under 10), just wondering if it is a decent show for kids?

Any comments or thoughts would be much appreciated.

PS...If CGC is at the show, is it possible to hand in books for them to grade at the show...if they don't have on site grading...they take 'em and send them back to you once they have been graded. Anyone know if they do this at shows? Just thinking of bringing a few books down with me as well.

Thanks. Would appreciate any insite in the show and the CGC "drop off" if it is possible...

Thanks, Karl.

Yes, Just bring your books to their booth and they will tell you what needs to be done.

I drive down from Vancouver, Canada for Emerald every year for the Sat. only. They have moved to new location this year.

Best show for getting sketches as line ups not as long as San Diego. They have a rock n roll museum near the Seattle Space Needle also. Also, fun to visit at least 1 of the 5 Half Price Bookstores (near Seattle Capitol Hill district).

Unless u have a dealer's pass, all the good Silver Age deals will be gone in the 1st hour of the con Sat. Only chance to meet dealers who drive up from northern CA if u don't have time to attend Wonder Con or Int'l Comic-con: San Diego.

earthbornpig,

Lots of decent restaurants in the University of WA/used bookshop area (N.E. 45th St) or exit 200 Tulalip Casino deluxe buffet lunch or dinner. (thumbs u

karl,

Your kids may enjoy Emerald Con as there are usually fans dressed up like Chewbacca, stormtroopers, Black Cat, jedi, etc. Emerald has a huge area for free posters, flyers, little plastic toys for that popular Marvelclix board game, overstocked Fantagraphics graphic novels.

Your kids will probably wind up getting more free sketches than you from the local Seattle/Portland mainstream & independent artists. Bring a sketchbook or a stack of backing boards that can be sketched on. :gossip:

Wow didn't know there were so many from canada here! Would anyone here happen to live near abby & be going to the con for both days?.. I'd love to hitch a ride with some one to the con & bunk a room as well we could always split the room cost too!

synch,

Sorry, just driving down for the Sat. only with my posse who have diverse comic & book interests.

Guess, you could always sleep at the foot of Borock's bed in Seattle, WA if he should grace us with his presence like at 2007 Emerald con. Trade him a 6 pack of Canadian Molson  beer?
