Something like that. I don't know the full details and the specific spoilers are online. JJ Abrams wanted to do a reboot without having to throw out the continuity of the TV show, but he wanted to set up a franchise with the original crew members. We will see if it's successful.

 

We are supposed to learn how Kirk beat the no win situation.
