Newly arrived this morning . . .

I originally bid on this cover when it was offered by Heritage early last year. I was pipped at the post by Mike Burkey, who proceeded to offer it on his site at a considerable mark-up in price. It remained unsold throughout the year.

 

Late last year I approached Mike asking if he would be willing to reduce his asking price to a more realistic level and, to his credit, he agreed.

 

This original is a welcome addition to my collection of EC covers, and partners my WAR AGAINST CRIME cover.

 

CRIME PATROL was a 'Pre-Trend' EC title that shifted its contents towards Horror in the final two issues of its run. A name change, with # 17, saw it evolve into CRYPT OF TERROR . . . which would quickly follow with a final title change to TALES FROM THE CRYPT with # 20.
