Wonderful Winnipeg Weekend & Week on PedigreeComics.com!!

3 posts in this topic

Pedigree Comics, Inc. will be listing a group of ultra high grade Bronze Age Marvels from the incredible Winnipeg Collection starting on Friday, February 15th. This new listing comprises 9.8, 9.6 and 9.4 CGC certified Marvels from the following titles: Man-Thing, Man-Thing (Vol. 2); Marvel Classics Comics Series, Rom Annual and Marvel Chillers, plus deep runs of Rom and Savage She-Hulk. Every comic has bone white pages (except for 2 with off-white to white), undescribable cover gloss and that clean and unread appearance that makes Winnipegs so desireable for Bronze and Copper Age collectors. There are 85 brand new books in total to choose from.

For those of you who do not know, the Winnipeg Collection was founded in late 1996, when Dan Greenhalgh of Showcase New England purchased the entire collection from original owner Joseph Krolic. The collection consisted of full runs of all Marvel titles, plus many DC titles, from 1963 through 1996, all purchased by the 2 original owners (Joseph Krolic and Denis Kjolso) from the same newsstand in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pedigree Comics' owner Doug Schmell purchased many early Silver Age Marvel runs, plus all the Bronze and Copper Age Marvel titles from Showcase New England in December, 1996. He sold most of the early Silver Age Marvels within the past 10 plus years but kept all the Bronze and Copper runs intact (over 3,000 comics) until he began selling them on his Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com) in early 2005. Over one thousand Winnipegs have already sold since 2005 and many unsold issues remain on the site.

This new listing constitutes the intial part of the final "wave" of Winnipegs that are being submitted to the CGC for certification (the final 1,000 books). The first part of this 85 book group will be uploaded Friday afternoon with the remaining books going live over the weekend and into next week. Many more Marvels from this amazing collection will be certified and listed in 2008. Every Winnipeg comic graded will be at least in 9.4 grade. Please check the "New Arrivals" section of the Web site for upcoming news and details of newly certified Winnipeg Marvels or contact Doug Schmell directly at (561) 422-1120 or DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com"

Yup. Winnipegs are a great thing. I bought a ton of pre-hero Marvels & DC Sci-fi from Joe in the early 90s - back when his business was called Comics America. That was before they were called Winnipegs of course. Nice books.
