MARVEL LOWERS CDN PRICES, BRINGS BACK ALPHA FLIGHT

Monday morning Marvel announced that they will, effective December 5th, be lowing the Canadian prices on their books by at least 50 cents to $1 on most titles. That wasn’t the only good news for Marvel fans in the Great White North – according to the release, Alpha Flight will return as an ongoing in 2004.

Marvel’s release reads:

Marvel Enterprises is pleased to announce that beginning with comic books

on-sale on December 5th, Canadian prices are being cut by at least 50-cents

and up to $1 on most Marvel titles. This change does not effect graphic

novel prices.

The new Canadian price structure is as follows:

New Canadian Price Old Canadian Price

$0.75 $0.85

$1.50 $1.60

$3.25 $3.75

$3.50 $4.00

$4.25 $4.75

$5.00 $5.75

$5.75 $6.50

$7.00 $7.95

$8.50 $9.50

Lower prices isn't the only good news Marvel has for our neighbors to the

north …early next year ALPHA FLIGHT returns as an ongoing series!

Good news, eh? grin.gif

Something had to give, as with our exchange rate, buyers would be far better off hitting the bank and paying the USD cover price. makepoint.gif

So really, Marvel has been over-charging Canucks for how many months?

I really liked the first series when it came out. The thing that kind of ruined it for me was that every member seemed to have personal problems, and their villians weren't interesting enough.

I'd say for close to a year. With the strong CDN$$ during this time the Big Publishers have been making a nice little profit off the exchange rate difference.

It nice to see an adjustment to a more realistic $$ value. grin.gif

Would this price adjustment that Marvel is doing would also mean that D.C. titles will follow as well?? .... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif893crossfingers-thumb.gif..... thumbsup2.gif

It would be foolish if they did not follow or they would look bad to their readership not to lower prices...... 893naughty-thumb.gifflamed.gif893naughty-thumb.gif
