Yeah, it is very well written.

I just really hope that people are trying it out so it doesn't get cancelled. For the life of me, I don't understand why people buy garbage over something like this.

I actually reviewed the whole series a few weeks ago. Great set of books, though I feel the story loses some of its luster in the second trade. Thankfully, it seems to be rebounding nicely.

Corrupt Indian building a casino. Guy is into killing, drugs prostitution. Guy named DAsh comes back home to work for corrupt guy as muscle at the casino but he's really FBI and they want to bring the chief down. Lots of story surrounding backgrounds. Very entertaining.

here the official writeup

for an intense crime drama that mixes organized crime with current Native American culture. This special low-priced volume collects the first five issues of the riveting Vertigo series SCALPED. Fifteen years ago, Dashiell “Dash” Bad Horse ran away from a life of abject poverty and utter hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation searching for something better. Now he’s come back home armed with nothing but a set of nunchucs, a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and one dark secret, to find nothing much has changed on “The Rez” — short of a glimmering new casino, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs and organized crime. Is he here to set things right or just get a piece of the action?]

vol 2 writeup

This volume, collecting issues #6-11 of the acclaimed new series by Jason Aaron (THE OTHER SIDE), explores Dash Bad Horse's troubled origin and chronicles his day-to-day life on The Rez working for Chief Red Crow.]

I loved the storyline in the 2nd trade. Thought the different perspectives that eventually rounds out the story was a bit different and fun.

I'm just glad that it appears to be on-schedule now (slow for a couple months).

When the author makes a money-back guarantee, that says something to me.

It's been a long time since I've been eager to pick up a monthly. I am really digging this title.

Definitely worth picking up the trades for (if not the individual issues). I picked up the (near complete) run for half-cover at a local con. Worth full price and then some.

Jason Aaron is a superb writer: he's knitting together a series of backstories and complex characters (each with their own set of quirks and hangups).

Plus the writing is suitably dense (a nice refreshing change from the slew of books with decompressed action slugfests).
