Place you're bets! Who is Skrull - Secret Invasion spoilers galore!

62 posts in this topic

With all the hubub in joes post I though it would be fun to make a post stating who you think is and is not a skrull or even WHO youl would want to be a skrull and in what books! Details ! :)

Ok from SI#1 a skrull ship crashes into the savage land and in it is a large group of masked people :)

out of this group I am going to bet that the following are skrulls...

spiderman ( no clone sega mess marvel does not want to go there again...)

luke cage (here we see luke & his wife I'm going to go with the luke on the ship being the skrull with his wife not from the ship being a skrull as well... ) I think they have done too much work on luke though in the tna for him to be a skrull... thats why I voted for the one on the ship being...

captain america

???hawkeye??? (they could really go either way on this one...)

thor (only a true god could bring back all the other gods! )

Ms marvel( I hope she is a skrull at least I've enjoyed her current run too much...)

beast 50/50 chance

ironman has a 80% chance of being a skrull as well...

The rest I have no clue or think they are real

I've got to think anyone who doesn't understand that "you're" is a contraction of "you are" and that "your" shows ownership might be a Skrull.

lol

I'm started to wish FF #2 had never happened and SKrulls never existed.

My theory is that the Skrulls in FF #2 were real Skrulls, the Skrulls we got now are some kind of imposters. Notice how their eyes are large and flat, like fish? And how their ears are huge, like mutated space bunnies?

Skrulls.jpg

Look at the new Skrulls now....smaller eyes. They still have big ears, but not as big. And they have a penchant for 70's style oversized collars.

Using this photographic evidence, I submit that the Skrulls have been infiltrated and replaced with other Skrulls!

My Doctor Strange rant:

I really hate how Bendis and company get rid of or depower Dr. Strange for these major crossover events. He did nothing in House of M and went off to the North Pole for Civil War. World War Hulk was good for me, since Doc was much more of a major player, but I think his well timed "freak out" in New Avengers Annual 2 was put into play to get him off the playing field for the Skrull stuff.

Of course, he was a member of the Illuminati when they infiltrated the Skrull ship, so maybe Doc is a Skrull as well and will show up in later issues (He was a no-show in #1, if anyone else cares).

The only reason why it would suck if Doc is skrullified is because it would mean that the star of the "Doctor Strange: The Oath" mini series was not the real Doctor Strange. This was the best series in years to feature the character, and that would kind of tick me off.

I feel really nerdy posting this kind of stuff. Think I need to spend a bit more time with the wife and less with the funny books...

Dr. Strange = Skrull.... Why you ask ?

1. Above stated : In times of conflict, hes a no show.

2. In New Avengers: Neither wolverine or Dr.Strange could detect any skrulls.

3. In The Oath: He gained a personality.

4. In WWH : He channeled some crazy other dimensional entity to defeat Hulk. Yet couldnt control it afterwards. Hes the SORCERER SUPREME ! C'mon

5. Again in New Avengers: When the Skrull Biz hits the fan, he decides he needs a vacation.

Now thats what I think...

Concerning the Capt Marvel question...

Can Skrulls even get cancer?

Jim

I would guess yes. Johnny Storm got one pregnant, cant be a big difference in physiology. Why am I reading into this ?

If the Capt Marvel who died turns out to be a Skrull I was wondering how the cancer plays into it...

Good point about Johnny, Lyja, and the egg... (thumbs u

I wondered that myself. I think it is a shame that Starlin Graphic may be destroyed, but could we honestly NOT use a good captain marvel book ? I say just hand it over to Brubaker. But with the cancer thing, my guess would be not ALL the skrulls turn when they die. I think this whole magic "card" is gonna be pulled, and used fast. This is a major wait and see storyline, I have been re-reading much of the stories that play part and the door really was left wide open for Bendis. Some people will cry blasphemy, while others will embrace a good story and possible fresh start on many characters.

But I would love to see a modern Captain Marvel.

That Gyrich guy who made the Avengers miserable in the late 70s has GOT to be a Skrull. I think he's still around, isn't he?

Norman Osborn is a Skrull whose imprinting didn't work well so he's always been psychotic.

I doubt they would really screw around with the real Captain Marvel's death. They need a Captain Marvel in the Marvel universe (for licensing/trademark purposes), but they don't want to destroy Starlin's work... at least that's my understanding. Hence, all this pulling him out of time stuff.

If they pulled the Skrull/Captain Marvell out of time, that doesn't invalidate the real Captain Marvel dying of cancer on Titan.

NRAMA: The Death of Captain Marvel by Jim Starlin remains one of the fondest stories told about the character first introduced by Stan Lee and Gene Colan in Marvel Super-Heroes #12 in 1967. You're… what… 9 years old when it was first published? Did you have any recollection of the story when it first came out? If not, when was the first time you'd read it?

BR: I admit I never read The Death of Captain Marvel until a year back. I missed out on it as a kid because I was so laser focused on buying Spider-Man titles to the exclusion of anything else. I ended up reading The Life and Death of Captain Marvel trade just because I was reading the Kree/Skrull War stuff for Illuminati research and realized I'd never read much about Mar-Vell.

I loved it immediately, and having just lost a close friend to cancer a few years back, I think maybe the end of the story hit me a bit harder than it ever would have had I read it before then.

NRAMA: Comic book characters are not new to death and resurrection, with the recent cases being Bucky Barnes (now Winter Soldier) and Jason Todd (formerly Robin)… Heck, even Superman came back from the dead, and the X-Men's Jean Grey is not unfamiliar to the whole death/resurrection concept. Having said that, what do you think of his… Captain Marvel's "resurrection"… his return to the Marvel Universe pre-cancer days?

BR: Ahhh, there's the thing that I think makes Captain Marvel interesting in today's Marvel Universe -- this isn't a resurrection. He is most certainly not "back from the dead". What we're seeing is Captain Marvel propelled into the future and witnessing what the world will become after he is gone.

Captain Marvel still dies of cancer, lying there in his bed on Titan, with all the other heroes gathered around him. And he stays good and dead after that.
