Iron Fist #14 CGC 8.0 Variant! up to $2,024.99 on ebay 6 days left!

I never understood the appeal of this 'price variant' phenomenon. I would rather spend that money and go after a Hulk 181 in super high grade or heck even a 'regular' IF #14 CGC 9.8. ;)

I agree. There are better Bronze books to pick up for the same cash and a much nicer grade. (thumbs u

Of course, what you collect is cooler than what I collect.

BTW, any monkey with a checkbook can find a high grade Hulk 181. Find a 9.8 Kid Colt Outlaw 219 35 cent variant.

I have a Kid Colt 219 35 cent variant, but it is obviously not a 9.8.

Here is the sales history by grade on the book from GPA. I am not sure why the sales price is shocking to anyone.

9.4 only one recorded sale in 2006 for $5100.

9.2 only one recorded sale in 2002 for $1500. (Anyone think this was a bad buy?)

9.0 two sales of the book since 2002 with the last sale recorded by GPA in 2007 at $1925.01. The other 9.0 sold last year for $2000 in a private treaty sale.

8.5 only one recorded sale in 2005 at $1601.

8.0 three sales recorded with the last sale at $1725 in Mar 2008. I believe that this is an erroneous listing as it is this same book before ebay pulled the listing prior to auction end.

7.5 two sales with the last sale at $1325 in 2005

7.0 only one recorded sale in 2004 for $1100.

6.0 two sales with the last sale at $735 in Mar 2006

By way of comparison, There have been 13 sales of a regular 30 cent issue with the last sale at $1314.50.

The seller lives in the same city as me and I've met him on occassion to pick up books I've won. I seriously doubt he would shill his own auctions. I'm guessing this had more to do with the buyer not following through.

Granted, the private bidding is strange and would seem to aid the plight of shills.
