All,

Sorry to ask a random question, but I have found the Walking Dead issues 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 15, lurking in one of my comic boxes, all say NM-. I had intended collecting them many years back, but never got around to it - I know silly me!!

Anyhow, can someone please give me an idea of what they are worth, bearing in mind I am based in the UK.

Many thanks,

Waylander

Just check eBay for completed sales to get the best idea of what these are really selling for. NM- that group goes for $10 to $15 each all day long except for the #8 which gets $25 to $35. Now 9.8 would be another story or if you had even earlier issues.

Just got into this whole Dead series in recent weeks. I actually had the time to pick up the huge volume 1 to 48 set. And finally finished reading it the other day. I must say though that I like the TV series more. Even though the show has been changed around. The comic lacks some elements which I enjoyed alot on the tv series. The whole CDC thing last thing was spectacular. I am very glad they added that. Hopefully there is more of that in the future. And flashbacks of how the whole thing went down. They need that. The web episodes were amazing. I hope there are more to come and longer. Honestly I hope they do a season of prequels. Focusing on how this all went down. How the governments lost control, how cdc was frantically trying to find the cure and how many of these characters first reacted when this was going down.

What I hope they dont drag on the show is the whole prison thing. And the governor reminded me too much of Major blood of GI Joe (they way they made him look). They really should just keep this storyline in the comics.

Totally disagree..the TV show is good but doesn't even come close to the first 48 issues of the comic. The CDC storyline was mess! I like that in the comic after all the stuff they go through they really never try to figure out why just how to survive living in the new world and trying to make it day to day. Kinda like how season 2 is now and that is why season 2 kicks season 1's :sumo:

But nothing I repeat NOTHING in the WD storytelling comes close to the first 48 issues of the comic!

Done with my rantrant

Thats my whole problem with the comic actually. With no cdc ,thats it. The world is pretty much done and they have to keep surviving every day. This mad max type of new world doesnt do it for me. And if people are complaining about the dragging of sofia in the show then what do you call the whole prison story line? A never ending saga? With Major Blood (the governor) trying to get revenge invading the prison.

The story should include something where the President and government officials are in a sceure underground location of some sort and there are some place in the world where the infection was under control and there is some type of government still.

And thank God its on AMC or else if it were HBO we would be suffering with a whole love story between Glenn and Maggie , and there sex life.

The comic is too vulgar too.

My fear is the prision scene could very well turn into a nightmare with this season's writers. They seem to struggle on developing characters in a crisis and focus a lot of valuable resources on filler episodes. So the prison scene has the potietual to flop if they don't revise their game plan.

Though I wonder if opinion differs based on if someone started by reading the comic first or watching the TV show.

But that's just it. The comic is about survival. And not just that, but also about rebuilding communities and holding onto your own humanity during this catastrophe.

The comic is too vulgar too.

Ummm, the world has gone down the pooper due to a zombie apocalypse. No realistic depiction of that is going to have the characters skipping around, holding hands, exclaiming "Gee willikers!" at the sight of a zombie horde. Honestly, I'm not really sure what you were expecting. In my opinion, any vulgarity in TWD is at least justified, unlike, say, just about any comic released by Avatar these days.

What scares me more then a zombie plague is that I am actually agreeing with you TJ on many things lately :foryou:

I agree and like the additions they have made to the TV series. It works for TV. What others have called fluff actually does work on TV. It would have sucked in the comic, because time is an issue. You only get 22 pages a month in a comic series.

As a HUGE G.I. Joe fan, you are simply wrong. Major Bludd had an eye patch too, but that is where it ends. The Governor was an incredible villian, and his arc was the best part of the comic series in my opinion. This MUST be included in the TV show. Should be season 3 (late 20's + early 30's issues), with the return in season 4 (issues 43-48).

They are both great. The CDC visit worked for the show. 2c

+ Bazillion!!! The everyday person struggle through this is what makes it interesting. Who cares about what the leaders/Government is doing? This would be the real struggle.

I didnt say the comics werent good. The stories are good. Im just enjoying the show more than the comics, in this case.

In the case of just surviving in this new world (as it is in the comics) , it doesnt do it totally for me. Iliked the cdc idea because you had the scientists trying to save the world from total catastrophy. Better story. For me at least.
