Call them ASAP so you do not have to deal with sending in a re-holder. The re-holder will be free but you still have to pay the shipping. I had this same happen to some books last year and thought it was a typo on the website. Wrong... It was a typo on the slab as well...

I spent WAY to much at NYCC. I can't imagine the cost of Image Expo. The flight alone is $800 easy.

Can someone tell me what happened in this show regarding the governor guy and Michonne? Someone mentioned in the Preacher thread that the gov was tamed a bit for tv. I don't watch it but was wondering what they changed. Cheers.

They didn't necessarily tame him, but they humanized him more than last season and the comics. It made for better storytelling IMO. The viewer understood what the motives were behind the Governor's actions. You didn't have to agree, but you understood why he did what he did.

 

It also presented a struggle the governor dealt with between trying to forget his Woodbury past and him resorting to his old ruthless ways.

 

In the end he was too far gone.

The TV Gov had more depth and character development than the one in the comic ever could have had. There was an awesome tension between you rooting for and against him that I just never felt in the comic. And he had his awful moments that made you hate him. Ge did not rape Michonne, and there were allusions to some crass things he did to Maggie, but he never went that far.

 

To be honest, I'm glad they didn't because that ploy has been overused and hits a nerve with many-- (gross understatement).

I think I've mentioned it before in here but that was what made me stop reading the book. It was some of the laziest and most brainless writing I've ever endured. I might give the show another chance. I watched the first few episodes and thought it was ok, if a little slow, but lost interest/got distracted by other stuff.

 

Does the quality of the show hold up from season to season?

I think so especially if you sit down and watch 4 or 8 episodes in a row. The first half of season 2 is pretty draggy but overall the series is pretty good.

 

You might also try the comic or tpbs after issue 33 up until issue 100 when there is some major IMO gratuitous violence again in issue 100.

There was the Michonne vs. Governor scene, but it was severely toned down compared to the comic.

 

I think I've mentioned it before in here but that was what made me stop reading the book. It was some of the laziest and most brainless writing I've ever endured.

 

It is a horror comic book. :shrug:

 

It's funny though. Some people love that stuff, and some people hate it. I know people that stopped reading after issue 48 because the Lori splash was too much.

 

To me, it was ballsy of Kirkman to do it and have it pay off.
