After selling my collection, I can now proudly say...

I don't own a SINGLE CGC graded comic book!

WOO HOO! Aww yeah baby! thumbsup2.gifcloud9.gif

Seriously...I wish they'd come back...I miss them ... shy.gifcrazy.gif

The price offered must be seriously nice if you were willing to part with ALL of them. I would have at least kept that one grail comic that took me years to find. cloud9.gif

I hope you consulted someone as to how much help selling the books would or would not provide, hate to have you look back and say "hell, for 100 a month I'd rather have the books."

It was the right move. The CRASH is coming to a comic collection near you. gossip.gif

Congratulations S. I was in a position like that around 10 years when

I suddenly had to raise money on short notice. It was heartbreaking to

have to sell most of my collection but it was between that or giving up

the chance to spend a year doing research at Stanford. One decision

I've been really happy about later was that I kept a handful of my very

best and rarest books (although the buyer was begging me to sell

them). If you have any favorite books that you know that you won't be

able to find again, I'd consider holding on to them a little longer. You'll

always be able to sell your best stuff but you may not be able to buy

it back.

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge about MLJ's - hope

we'll continue to hear from you in the future.

The price was right, and I did keep my beautiful Pep #17...

I'm doing the same thing, Shield, except I'm doing it piece by piece on ebay (which is much harder than all at once, like when you rip off a band-aid). Once I get into a house in early '04, I will start to acquire once more....

Up next is my AF 15, ASM 1-20 sorry.gif

Guys, you missed the first rule of Golden Age collecting...marry someone who ALREADY owns a house. grin.gif

The irony is that my MIL is alone in a three-story six-bedroom house (with no mortgage either)....but she lives in England! double foreheadslap.gifforeheadslap.gif
