258 Comics Away From EVERY DC

128 posts in this topic

I've only got 258 to go before I have EVERY DC comic ever released to date since 1935. With especial thanks to Paul Sassienie, Jonathan Browne, Vincent Zurzulo, Stephen Fishler, Harley Yee, Joe Verenault, and too many others to list, if you'll allow me, here are the 258 I'm still missing. If anyone can help with any affordable low grades please, then e-mail me at ian.levine@btconnect.com

Thanks and I hope you don't mind me putting up the list. It's getting very exciting now.

My Action 1 was originally graded at 1.0, but Harley Yee said that was too low and it was indeed a good at 2.0, and having collected enough books, I have to concur. It's complete and apart from a small amount of tape on the spine it looks lovely and solid and I'm very proud of it. The number 2 however was CGC graded at 8.0. But I'm even prouder of having Action 1 through 808 with not one missing. I'm still trying to conclude a deal on a restored Detective 27 for $23000. That's about the most I'll pay.

To answer the next question, there have been virtually exactly thirty thousand DCs to this moment in time.

And as for Marvel, I've NEVER been remotely interested and never will be. I've been into DCs since I was six years old, and had over two thirds by the early eighties, then gave up for seventeen years.

And thank GOD I had a New Adventure 13 from the Seventies when I bought it, cos I'd NEVER have found one now. Similarly the Fat and Slat Joke Book, which, despite its ridiculously laughably low value in Overstreet, HAS to be the rarest DC ever made.

Why the "DOH" comment, just because I've never collected Marvel ????

I really love DCs and what's the point in lying and pretending I like Marvels when I don't.

At least I'm telling the truth, not like this con-man on e-bay with a supposed Action 1, who claims he found it in his Grandfather's attic. I've never seen anything fishier. Are you not all going to do something about it ??? So far some poor sod has already bid nearly four thousand bucks for what is so OBVIOUSLY a con.

893applaud-thumb.gif Great collection! It was nice to see your want list because it perfectly captures what the "thrill of the hunt" is all about. One of the main reasons I collected was to cross off numbers from my want list (in addition to the art/story). Some books I cared very little for but had to have them because they were part of a run. Good luck in your search!

Nice collection and good luck with the ones you still need. From my own experiences, some of those books will be very hard to locate. It took me nearly 10 years to locate a copy of The Big Book of Fun Comics, and longer than that to find a copy of New Adventure 26. And you are absoloutely correct saying that New Adventure 13 is rare. I bought my copy from Charles Wooley in 1993 and I haven't seen another copy since! The superhero books you need are not hard to find, especially in lower grades. I can't speak to the non-superhero stuff, as I don't collect those titles.
