. Bat Man can carry on well into adulthood. I could stand to be Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker not so much.

Who wouldn't wana be a billionaire, man about town? And that's the point, there are a lot more Peter Parkers in the world than there are Bruce Waynes.

BTW, I voted for Bat Man, because I think that dark element, played correctly has wider appeal.

thats why Tony Stark is so cool, just like Bruce Wayne but much more human.

I have been a Batman fan since 1976 but voted for Spiderman in my own poll. I just think he has the biggest appeal for kids. His movies are more kid friendly. Dark Knight is a terrifying movie for young kids, especially the burned face of Two-Face.

Ditto,

My son has seen every Spidy movie as of today and I refuse to let him see the Dark Knight until he's a little older. It's nothing personal, I love Batman...maybe even as much as Spiderman, but his modern stuff gets a little Gothic, pardon the pun. In the past, Spiderman seems full of light and kid friendly. I would spend all my comic money on Therapy if I allowed my son to get envolved with the Modern day Batman. Just remember, Peter Parker is basicaly a kid while Bruce is nothing more than some wealthy stock borker down on Wall St. The only guy on wall street that even comes close to fun is Cramer. Bruce was never allowed to be a kid and enjoy life. He doesn't work well with kids...just look at his past relationships with Robin(s). So I'm going to have to run with Spiderman on this one. Now do I think Batman will simply fade away...hell no. Batman will with stand the test of time. He simply rerquires a more mature reader/viewer.

A man in a metal suit is much more human than a guy with a utility belt? :screwy:

the key to the question is "Who will 6 year olds prefer" in 20 years. Thats a key element. They will be too young to have any attachments to any of them except for what they see and experience in the media and marketing etc all around them.

I think its a tough call. Right now, Spidey has all the momentum, especially coming from behind Bats and Supes who after 70 years might be considered a bit "tired". But I dont see either of DCs big guns disappearing by then. I think they will be continually kept alive in any and all media available, ...

So, Id have to say 1) I dont know, and 2) with a gun to my head, I say the status quo remains: Supes, Bats, Spidey in that order. Spidey is cool and a kid. Bats is tough and mysterious. But Supes is all things good and super-powerful, a fictional icon of America itself. So kids ought to keep gravitating to him first. (ask them whose powers they like to have most? Climb walls and ejaculate webbing? Hide in a cave with a little boy?? See thru stuff (wink wink) and FLY and anything else you can think of!!!! ?? duh!

Interesting will be if America is really in the toilet by then, whether that would kill Supes basic appeal!

talking about Tony Stark seems more normal than Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne is screwed up as much as the Joker. Tony Stark could be a regular guy you would have a drink with, I don`t think that about Bruce.

Spider Man is just, well, fluff. Spider Man has a window of appeal from say age five to twelve, maybe thirteen. Bat Man can carry on well into adulthood. I could stand to be Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker not so much.

Good point. My view may have been tilted towards the younger audience but long term appeal is the question here....

So is it possible for Batman to outpace Superman?

thier really is no comparision Batman is much more popular than Superman. when you ask the younger generation about Superman they think about Mickey Mouse.

I don't know if I would agree with you but how do you quantify that....

Food for thought.

the younger generation is a lot more cynical than we were, Grand Theft Auto and Halo comes to mind. Superman comes off as a goody two shoes boyscout to the younger generation.I tried to watch Superman Returns with my 17 year old nephew a few years back and he said why watch it? Superman will save the day. boring was his word. then he put in the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale. kinda like how we feel about Tarzan and the Lone Ranger now.
