  1. Deadpool is the last major character? Really, wow that's not saying much for the comic industry. exactly, I was out of comics between 1994 to 2007, I came back expecting that I would have to find out all new information about all the new keys I had missed in those 13 years, instead all I found out was the same top keys in 1994 are the same keys today. I didn`t miss much, it`s like I never stopped collecting in a timewarp sort of way. I thought I was the only one! My wantlist from 20 years ago is pretty much the same. The only unfortunate thing is that the prices didn't stay in that time warp. The books I couldn't afford then are the same ones I can't afford now yep other then the keys prices going up and a few new well written independent/vertigo books, nothing of anything that was missed in those 13 years by Marvel/DC universes would be considered a true key but they sure did a lot of crossovers .

  3. Deadpool is the last major character created by Marvel and DC and New Mutants # 98 is the last key by Marvel and DC(leave creative owned Vertigo out of this). so in theory this might be a good investment. lets check it out and see.
  4. It says 6 customers, so maybe it was not a huge amount of people. I was just guessing it was a huge amount of people since there were 5 bottles of wine served. I did not take into a account that these people maybe alcoholics. If you want to become rich, get into the alcohol business, my uncle owned a bar for 20 years, it`s economy proof
  5. There was a huge UK run back in the 1980`s and what was interesting was a lot of stuff they published in them has never been reprinted here in the US, you might want to check some of those UK comics out.
  6. Agreed. They are developing new inks now that are pleasing for your eyes, lets keep a eye out for the new i-tablet, its suppose to be the ultimate comic book reader,It will make you want to read comics online(so they say). Mythical Apple iTablet to be Ultimate Comic Book Reader? you know I really have never held out short term hope for ecomics until I read the one sentence in that blog that clicked for me. I'm going to graph it. Steve Jobs (largest shareholder in)----->Disney------>Marvel There is hope. Thanks, I am glad you caught that, I wanted to see if they would pick up the connection of who is in charge of Marvel now, if Steve Jobs could change the way a majority of people bought thier music, he most certainly could do it to comics. Music Industry is 100 times bigger than the comics industry, about 9 years ago everybody in music collected cds, now look how the landscape has changed in music, cds have now given way to the itune model.
  7. Just about all media content is easier to access and more enjoyable online, eventually they will figure out how to make superhero comics enjoyable on the net.
  8. Agreed. Mythical Apple iTablet to be Ultimate Comic Book Reader? So long as humanity has the senses of "touch" and "smell", "digital stuff" is not going to replace the real thing permanently, no matter what it is. I dunno I read all my newspapers/text books online and never buy a newspaper at the store anymore. super hero comic books seem to be the last holdout, even manga is making progress online. It sure does make for good discussion.
  9. Agreed. They are developing new inks now that are pleasing for your eyes, lets keep a eye out for the new i-tablet, its suppose to do be the ultimate comic book reader,It will make you want to read comics online(so they say). Mythical Apple iTablet to be Ultimate Comic Book Reader? It's not just about the eyes. It's about the feel and smell of a comic curling up in your hand. That's why I don't like trades. yeah but the younger generation is used to all this tech now as they grew up with it, look at itunes, most people carry hundreds of songs around on thier ipod, I can see some people downloading the latest issue of Spidey for 99 cents. I guess we will find out in the future.Either way comics will not go away. (thumbs u

  11. You're going to have to clarify before I'll agree. Do you mean "there are more collectors now than in 1993?" I'll argue against that vociferously. Do you mean "there are more collectors now than in 1999?" Then yes, you'd be correct. A LOT of people were burned on comics in the early 90's and left in disgust. Younger buyers couldn't afford anything, so they left (and then grew up and came back), 20-something buyers were burned on comics, and some of THEM came back, and 30+ took a break, and they came back. But the reality is, for every new collector who has gotten into comics since 1996, the hobby has lost 5-10 who collected prior to that, that it has not replaced. And SPECULATORS came back, in much diminished numbers, in 2007 with Cap #25, otherwise they're gone (and good riddance.) When Spiderman #1 (McFarlane) sells for $5-$6 on eBay, and average print runs go back to 100K, instead of 25K, THEN I'll believe that we've gotten back the numbers that were lost in the mid 90's. I think they will go back to 100k readers a month for Spider-man and Batman but the majority of those 100k readers will be reading thier adventures on the i-phone or upcoming I-tablet, once Spiderman/Batman comics become mainstream on the iphone, a new generation will make the keys even more expensive as they also will now seek the keys out.The high grade keys will continue to go up for silver/golden ages.I definately would not expect a crash for the real popular characters like Batman, Wolverine and Spider-man.
  12. It is beyond ridiculous to compare FF #1 to New Mutants #98. NOBODY bought 15 copies of FF #1 the week it was brand new, immediately bagged and boarded them, and then stuck them in a long box for 40+ years. More than one person did just that with New Mutants #98. Perspective, people. The two aren't remotely comparable. maybe not FF #1 but I can see comparing NewMutants#98 to Incredible Hulk #181 as they both had similar print runs and by looking at the census Hulk #181 looks like it was slabbed more than New Mutants #98. so either FF# 1 is undervalued or Hulk #181/NewMutants# 98 are overvalued.
  13. maybe he will buy a mid-grade FF1 or AF 15 with the profits, then again maybe he will use the 12 grand for a down payment on a house. you gotta love this country, a rob liefeld comicbook can get you a downpayment for a house.
  14. Why this book at cgc 9.9 and not GI JOE or Transformers at CGC 9.9? Transformers and Gi Joe worldwide are much more popular than Deadpool and as we are talking New Mutants, why not #87 at CGC 9.9?
  15. Almost embarrassed to join the club with my recent acquisition. Almost Welcome to the club! I wouldn't be embarrassed...you should see my cover less copy. there is CGC 2.5 on Comiclink right now for $1,050. I would be very interested to see if he gets that price. this books seems like the AF#15 of the Silver Age for DC. I see it has sold on comiclink,I wonder how much of a cut comiclink got?
  16. This always makes me think when I see these auctions, if your book is worth some good coin, why not get it CGC`ed? this would make buyers feel a whole lot more comfortable, they would probally get more bids.I see all these auctions, lots of nice looking books but there is no way I am spending big coin on a rare key unless it`s slabbed.
  17. I think what a lot of people are missing here is how good the Geoff Johns run is, it`s similar to that Byrne X-men run of the bronze age.It is must read modern material. What you got in Johns is as close to a Alan Moore comics will get for awhile.Johns, along with the upcoming movie hype has made SA Green Lantern relevent again.

  19. I don`t know, Tales of Green Lantern Corps #2 was going for big money on Ebay before it got mentioned here, by the time it got mentioned here it had dropped like a rock.
  20. yeah director`s cut to me wasn`t as good as the version I seen in the movies. the directors cut is very long. grab a cup of coffee
  21. Actually, I started one a little while back but it died a quick death since membership in that club is even more exclusive than SC #22. (thumbs u , maybe we should start it up again? I have a copy but probally mid-grade like a 4, I will try to get it cgc graded before christmas.
