This is an 8.5 (Part II) ?

Hi,

Mr. Picky (or Can't Grade Anything Below 9.0... take yer choice) here with this item:

Hulk 122 CGC 8.5

Granted, the last time I got taken to task, but I'm a masochist....

So, is that a lot of fluid damage along the entire top?

And how many spine creases?

Is this Silver Age leniency?

Seems like a definite case of (not) buy the book, ignore the grade....

Opinions?

Thanks,

Fan4Fan

So that fluid-staining along the top edge is acceptable for VF+?

It is most noticeable to me in both upper corners tho' I think I see it here and there along the upper edge.

Thanks,

Fan4Fan

The "fluid-staining" is from "distributor's drool," which CGC doesn't consider a defect.

Overall, I think VF+ might be a little generous in this case, but not as far off the mark as some I've seen, that's for sure.

In General, CGC does not seem to downgrade a book for:

1) Distribution Ink

2) Mis-Cuts

3) Production Creases

4) Arrival Dates

5) Non-Obtrusive Writing

Just some of the things that I have seen on books as high as NM+ (9.6).

Will that change tho' since they are going to be adopting Overstreet principles?

It has been a while (possibly obvious) since I've memorized the grading guide, but I thought OS downgraded even for production problems...

Thanks,
