Earasing pencil is not restoration...pulling off tape is not restoration, but professionally removing tape and residue is?.

 

Taping a tear is not restoration, but gluing a tear is???

 

Writing on the cover is not restoration...unless you happen to write in ink to cover a "ding". Thus, the same color touch on a book is restoration or not only depending upon where the mark is and what color it is???

Since tape causes damage to the book, it's considered a defect by CGC, not restoration or conservation. No professional archivist/restorer would use tape.

Nicest 5.0 out there. I don't think resto is the answer. It would sell at a slight premium to the grade the way it is. Lots of guys want this book and this copy would be relatively cheap and it looks great.

Definitely don't take the resto route...its a gorgeous book, even if its a supposed 5.0...

7.0 thats a major scratch with a possible tear. There is also some damage upper corner BC above the writing.

 

I would say 6.5/7.0 with the damage.

If that "scratch" also has a tear, I'd agree with ACES comments totally.

 

 

However no one has mentioned the probable fact that there is possibly some interior defect (missing marvel stamp, small piece missing, interior page/pages torn, etc...). That book is simply too nice looking for the visible defects to take it down to a 5.0, tear or not..........

i havent cracked it but wouldnt it be on the label if the stamp was missing?

I did say it is probably interior. Call CGC and ask I bet is is interior with multiple page defects like rips/tears or something

The label would mention the MVS neing missing. CGC missed the grade on this book big time. Unless there is something going on with the interior... Buy The Book. Not The Slab.

I have CGC 7.0's that don't look this nice...
