Beckett Comics' Ruule - Ganglords of Chinatown #1

Anyone pick up this book (Ruule - Ganglords of Chinatown #1) today? It's published by Beckett Comics (I think this is the same Beckett of sports card fame - anyone have any details on the company and its future plans?)

 

I haven't read it yet, but I was pretty impressed by the packaging - a nice cover by David Mack, 44 pages, squarebound Prestige format for only $2.99 (which I don't think is a promotional price, as I think there's an ad for the next issue at $2.99, though the latest CSN says it will be $5.95?) If this were a Marvel or DC book, it would be $5.95, which leads me to believe that the major publishers' costs are nowhere near as high and fixed as they would like us to believe.

Let us know if the story is good. I don't buy comics just for cool covers anymore. Sounds interesting.

It was the 16pg preview on the website that caught my interest. I also like stepping away from Marvel and DC occasionally.

I'll see if my LCS has a copy tomorrow and let you know what I think.

I flipped through the book in the store, wasn't impressed by the one-tone coloring job prevalent in the book, and passed on it.
