One of my favorite lines is from a Bobby song so naturally Barlow wrote it:

You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot

For a taste of your elegant pride

I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe,

But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

At least I'm enjoying the ride.

At least I'm enjoying the ride.

Not my favorite song by a long shot, but love the lyrics to the chorus.

Never heard that Friend of the Devil line, its pretty cool

Yep! Barlow rocks as well:

'Shipping powders back and forth

Singing black goes south while white comes north

And the whole world full of petty wars

Singing I got mine and you got yours.

And the current fashions set the pace.

Lose your step, fall out of grace.

And the radical he rant and rage, singing someone got to turn the page

And the rich man in his summer home,

Singing just leave well enough alone

But his pants are down, his covers blown

And the politicians are throwing stones

So the kids they dance they shake their bones

Cause its all too clear were on our own

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free

Its dizzying, the possibilities. ashes, ashes all fall down."

Here is something I came across that I find quite interesting..........around '93 Jerry started playing, via JGB, the song "Shining Star".

I heard a awesome version of this from an on-line website(don't remember where). Unfortunately, it was imcomplete. I have tried to find this great verison, but I haven't yet come across it.

The arrangement Garcia does is totally worth an intense "listen to". Jerry's frail voice, caused by years of singing, age, and health issues, made me almost cry the first few times I listened to it.

As I stated earlier, I am not a big fan of 90's GD music, but the JGB of the 90's somehow shined with great playing and a vibe direct from Garcia's soul.

Somehow, looking back, I feel Jerry was saying "good-bye" to us all in his own special way..............
