What do you look for in a comic?

4 posts in this topic

I don't know there have been threads on this subject but the question is :

When you buy a comic what are you buying? Here were some of my suggested reponses. Everyone probably has their own.

1)The front cover

2)The back cover

3)THe artwork in the interior

4)The storyline

5)The rarity of the book

I primarily look for Golden Age key books (#'1''s /first appearances of villians, scarce books, etc) with an eye towards a decent looking front cover. I can live with a somewhat lower quality back. I prefer defects on the spine or in the book itself.

Page quality is a must. I strive for off-white or better. I don't mind date stamps per sey but I try to avoid writing. With that said I look for scarcity and the highest grade I feel is practical money wise. You won't see me spending big $$$ on a 9.6 common book when I can have a 9.2 for 1/4th the price.
