Does anyone have any idea how this auctions works? I can't find any info on the web site. I sniped a book with less than 5 seconds left, walked away for a minute, came back to my computer and there was 6 minutes left on the auction. WTF? I still won but paid about $15 more than my winning snipe.

I think if a bid is placed within the last 2 minutes of any auction there is a 5 minute extension.

I didn't realize it until I did the same, but a bid in the last five minutes extends the clock for an additional five minutes.

It did warn me before I committed to my "snipe" bid.

Yes, that is how Brent's auctions work. A late bid grants a 5 minute extension.

It virtually eliminates sniping. I actually like it. I believe it is fair to both the buyer and seller.

Agreed. I wish Ebay (or other sites) had an option to do this when selling items. I think sniping defeats the "intention" of the auction (although I do it myself.) It's like you can be bidding with some other guy and it you've been going back and forth and it gets down to it and you've got the high bid at $100. The guy says going once...
