Finally!!! My little boy and I read comics together!

Last night for story time, my little boy and I read comics together!! It was fantastic, his little sister even had to get involved, not wanting to be left out.

We read several Neal Adams Superman's, of course. It was one of those surreal moments when you see your passions/hobby being passed on to the next generation.

Anyone else remember this moment?

No, but I'm anxiously awaiting that moment with my little one...14 months old now...

Voltron ! Found a huge pile at TG&Y circa 89?, the Modern title.

My son just about freaked. Always had books for him, but he

never really cared for comics till then. Nowadays I get the TPB's

as hand me downs.

That's awesome! My dad always thought comics were for kids, so he never read them and certainly didn't encourage me to read them (it was my mom that was a comics-scifi-mythology fan).

I hope I'll have a kid one day to read comics with and to pass a nice collection to, great post1

I'm no longer a little boy, but...I bought my first GA off these boards a few months ago (Early World's Finest). I showed/mentioned the book to my dad and he told me he used to read World's Finest when he was younger! I had no idea he read comics at all. It was a great little connection to share.

Dover - May I ask how old? Just curious. Thinking of giving me young nephews some comics, but not sure what to give them. They do love Superman. hm

My boy just turned 6 and my little girl will be 5 in December. They seem to be fascinated with the words that get used in fights. Like, "thwaaamm" or "kapow". He actually likes Spiderman and Batman but that may be due to commercialism more than anything.

I just gave them Superman books because I had them available in low grade. We have also been reading the Clone Wars books as well.

My son just likes the pictures. Runs in the family I'll buy them just for the cover

That's the truth. They like the flashy stuff!! Kids walk through a book store or Target and grab the craziest things just because they look cool or bright colors, not even knowing what it really was.

I even gave them each a CGC book. He is actually taking his to "share and tell", it a Turok #1 so it has the cool embossed cover fighting the dinosuar.

Okay the next step. How do you take your kid to the first convention or even store? You know they are going to run to every shinny baubble. Is it possible to focus them? They grab a comic, bend it, hurt it, you scream and so on...just like going to a toy store, how to pace the kids. :D

Rachel's 1st convention was in a stroller, she's been going to cons since she was old enough to go outside.

Sine I am such a geek, Rachel knows how to hold comics and can even grade a bit. She's better than most e-bay graders lol

But don't take the young ones to a con and think you are not going to spend extra $$$$ and don't think you are going to have much time to buy comics and talk to friends until they are old enough to walk around by themselves or really dig collecting with you.

I passed some comics down to my older son when he was 12...he read them and kept them in great shape. He recently told me they were boring. Now he reads....books!

My youngest son is fascinated w/ Venom and the symbiotes, and he loved the Secret Invasion arc.
