This Yellow Kid comic was printed on February 20, 1898. Does any body have information about what the "anti-cartoon bill" was that's being criticized in this panel?

cool picture - I did a search and found this online reference to the anti-cartoon bill. It looks like a very early attempt at censorship of caricatures.

Pretty clear the unstated acknowledgment of the power of the political cartoon, and also how easily the First Ammendment could be gutted. I'm sure glad we're past that today.

I wish that were so, but it isn't. Those of us in the First Amendment community struggle to ensure it remains intact every day. There are challenges everywhere.
