HULK 162 test your grading skills

Heres a copy of hulk 162. I bought around 10 years ago from a collector who had his collection stored in freezer bags, 8 or 9 to a bag ! See what you think , keep in mind that the scan is high resolution and is 3 times or so bigger than the actual comic.

I have it back from CGC and will post the scan of it tomorrow night.

I am thinking this should be in the grading section. But anyway, I'll go in at 9.0. Only because I'm worried about what I can't see.

8.5. Rounded corners, little blunting at the top left. VF+, maybe a 9.0 on a good day.

The reflection from the flash makes it hard to see certain parts of the book. I'll throw out a shot in the dark based on only the cover, and go 9.2

Back is near perfect on this book.

I'd guess 9.0 too, unless that's a crease down the right side of the book and not a mark on the bag or a scanner ghost. Then maybe only 8.0...

I'm with you g-man, 8.0 tops. Book is post 1970 my buddies at CGC are gonna be all over this one like stink on .. I think it is a very pretty book though.

Could you list the defects that would garner that book an 8.0?

 

P.S., unless I'm missing something glaring, I'd go 9.0 with a chance at 9.2.

I'd guess 9.2, so I figure it'll get an 8.5 or 9.0 !!!!

Without holding the book, I am going by the rounded look of the corners, the area on the spine next to Wendigo's elbow exhibits signs of more than one or two readings to me, and I think the cover overall has an appearance that shows a lack of the strength you see in higher grade books. MAYBE an 8.5, but I'll be surprised if it is higher than that. Rake me over the coals if I'm wrong.

Nice book - looks like there is a tiny stress line on spine and the upper left corner is rounded a tad, so I'll guess either 9.4 or 9.6.

I assume it's just the usual haters, as there's no way (assuming no hidden damage) that book gets less than a 9.0.
