Evolution of a Cover Recreation

 

Thought I would post the 3 major stages I go through to do a recreation. Here is Captain America #254. It starts with sizing the frame which has already been done. I have also done the small Cap America on the left hand side of the cover, already inked and finished.

 

Those are the minor stages.

 

Here is what I would call Stage 1, fully penciled with a rough indication of title for "clean" inking later.

 

The next stage will be to ink the lines.

Leeds mart was.... err ok.

some toys & absolute gash trading cards if thats your thing.

About 8 comic dealers and my good self.

So picture this as I forgot the camera.

 

take 1 comic mart

add 1 beer festival

add 1 wedding... very messy loading and unloading!

 

Managed to pick up NM copies of Encyclopedia Deadpoolica & Deadpool

Widdle Wade for £1 each and a VF/NM Chew #1 - 1st print for 50p.

So not much on the buying front

Nope, someone set up to sell their collection,

I pulled Green Lantern Rebirth 1 - 6 1st prints and he wanted £35 so I said no.

Then pulled Chew #1 and he said 50p so I said yes.

 

Darryl wasn't interested when I told him as he doesn't get into moderns, then asked who sold it & shot off to look :roflmao:

Talking of great music on TV, there was a great documentary on the Undertones on BBC4 last night, followed by a punk at the Beeb compilation clip show. fantastic!

 

Scary how many of those guys have already passed away. RIP Poly Styrene, she had something about her that I can't put my finger on, but every time I see a clip or hear her voice I remember how great she was. Germfree Adolescents :cloud9:

 

Thanks for reminding me re the Undertones doc...I shall of course be watching, even if Sharkey declined to appear in it.

 

And Poly Styrene sang it like she meant it.
