Story goes that it is a memorial to a climber who died up there, another climber who lives in nearby Threlkeld, climbed Blencathra hundreds of times, each time he went up he took a Quartzite stone up with him and formed this cross, this is one of many memorials scattered about the fells.

 :hi:  I was absent from the boards for a while with some health issues so it is great to be back amongst the living and back on the boards.  Seriously great postcard worthy pictures and beautiful country.  Goodness, you even grabbed a rainbow :D
