Can anyone recommend a fair comic dealer?

Thanks Roy. I really appreciate the help!

BTW, enjoyed your NYCC Report. That's a sweet MMC 9 you picked up at the show! :cloud9:

I've never been to any big cons, but am considering it. I just figured that if I can find the books I want through e-mails and phone calls, I'd prefer to do that. What I would pay for airfare and a room at one of the big cons might total the cost of a single high grade book I would have otherwise purchased. (shrug)

So for now, I've only been to the local Nashville Comic Con, which I'm sure pales in comparison to the biggies!

you should plan on going to Chicago this year -- i think you would get your most bang for your buck - all the travel and hotel expenses , airfare from Nashville is pretty cheap -- (thumbs u --

Travel is super cheap right now.

You can fly from Buffalo to NYC for $50 one way. How can you beat that?

We also had a nice hotel room right next to Times Square for $99 a night.

Killer.

Chicago will definitely be a blast and most bang for the buck.

Ted at Superworld is a nice guy to deal with.

However, you need to stop by the best booth first before you go see anyone else.

So before this thread gets too far de-railed (although it might be too late for that already).... meh

-- I've searched through some of the dealer's websites, but aren't finding alot of high grade copies of books I'm looking for. Guessing that the raw high grade books move fast, or are sent to online auction websites.

-- So, if I want a dealer to help me find some specific books, but I don't currently have a rapport established with that dealer, what incentive do they have to look for a specific book for me? I'm sure dealers get requests all the time from buyers who aren't serious about making a purchase.

I'm asking this because I called or e-mailed a couple of well known dealers with my want list a month ago, but haven't heard back from either of them.

My guess is I've fallen off their radars.

Have you tried posting your want list in the WTB forum? If noone here has the books.....I imagine someone will know where to find them. (thumbs u

Sounds like sound advice to me. Why limit yourself to a few dealers when you can post in the Wanted to Buy section here on the boards and have hundreds/thousands of people reviewing your want list?

If you are entering books you want into my want list feature on the site I will know what you are looking for. I have my laptop with me at every show. It's much easier pulling up books from a database versus going through paperwork that frankly is outdated the day you get it.

Lets not forget Marnin Rosenberg if he hasn't been mentioned already. Pretty strict grader, very nice guy that goes above and beyond to disclose as much detail as possible about a book(s) prior history. A pleasure to chat with as well.

I met Marnin in NYC...very cool cat!

Thanks for the kind words. I don't know of many dealers in your area but Dale Roberts is in Kentucky IIRC and he's a board member (with a few active sales threads as we speak in the selling forum). You might want to drop him a pm OR just visit a more local con that you can drive to...there's usually something within a couple of hours driving no matter where you live.

Thanks for the endorsement Roy. I will be glad to work with you in any way I can, want lists, phone, snail mail(both of which you can find in my Overstreet Ad on page 250, or even through the boards (PM). I will be at the Nashville Con again this fall and Chicago as well.
