THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #5 and #8 - (2, 3, 7 now SOLD)

48 posts in this topic

I'm slipping behind schedule on my plan to be debt free, so something has to go. I had a big fight with myself and the sensible part of me decided to sell my early Spideys (the other part of me slunk away vowing to return and buy replacements someday).

All shipping, packing and insurance costs are free to anywhere in the world, or included in the price depending how you look at it.

Being English I don't like to haggle. It simultaneously makes me feel like a used car salesman and a chump, and I'm rubbish at it anyway. Here's a clip of me shopping on holiday:

You get the idea. So, take it or leave it

Most of these CGC'd, some low grade, some highish...

ASM #2 - $300 (inc. shipped insured anywhere)

CGC 2.0 Off White

Purchased from Flying Donut not so very long ago. Funny thing about him, I'd never seen or heard of Ron Jeremy until catching on to the reference quite recently, so for the last couple of years I actually thought that was a picture of Mr Donut on his avatar. Ahem, anyway, here's a lovely 2.0 with no large tears or pieces missing, and no tape.

I'm sorry, but I almost spit Mountain Dew all over the place....:)

ASM #3 - $150 (inc. shipped insured anywhere)

CGC 1.0 Cream to Off White, 4 pieces of tape on spine

I had every intention of cracking the #2 and #3 and keeping them as reading copies, but didn't get round to it. Ah well.

Oh yeah, if you're wondering about the jaunty angles, it's the only way I can photograph slabs without glare obscuring the book. I need more photography skillz.

I think if you get the angles right on these after cracking them you have about US$50,000 worth of books in the ASM 2 and 3.. Not bad.

:baiting:lol

I'm just kidding, pics are fine, just couldn't resist with the "other" ASM 2 "sale" today.

CGC 3.0 Off White to White

Here's a beauty. Looks like a 5.5/6.0 structurally. On close inspection I think what brings it down is water damage on the right hand side, but I'm probably wrong because I'm rubbish at grading.

Bought at comiclink so I saved their scan (back cover is just as nice):

Yup, a lesser man would probably crack this 2.0 and sell it as a raw VG+ on ebay, and probably get away with it too!

I'd never heard of him either, and I'd actually MET Dan in person before, I just had forgotten what he looked like and thought that he (Dan) was another person and Donut looked like his Avatar;)

He's actually much better looking than the porn guy...;)

God that's nice.

Back cover is absolutely beautiful, white and sharp edged.

You just need to turn off the flash and have a good table light or sunlight.

I thought that might work better, but it's night time and all our light bulbs are those 'energy efficient' type, which really aren't very bright. If I don't use the flash it's too dark and the image comes out a bit dim and grainy.

One day when I'm rich I shall have a mini photo studio for this purpose :)

Damm those energy efficient lamps.:frustrated: they are not that bright.

Nice books by the way, and what would shipping to Canada cost roughly.

As for what it would actually cost... about £15 last time I sent a slab to Canada I think. A little more expensive than shipping to the US for some reason.
