Joanna: I saw the smiley, but that said, do you really feel this is an appropriate comment? I'm just wondering because I've seen you fly off the handle at so much less. I don't mind you making the jab, but it means you have to start letting some jabs go. Just smile and take it and move on. Not everything needs defending.

I'm not THAT bad am I? Sorry my naughty nature came out there, would you mind giving me a spanking? laugh.gif

Joanna: And although my mood is just fine, a handsome someone at night ain't a bad idea at all. I'm currently taking applications.

Handsome? Umm...in the eyes of the right woman yes, sure would be nice if I could read you ladies minds though. Handsome or not, I guess that does not matter because I live several states east of you, but giving you my application sounds like fun! grin.gif

BTW, I enjoyed reading your post in "How do you collect" wink.gif

(Lordy, I hope the smilies keeps the porn spam to a minimum)

See what you didn't realize is that one or two smilies indicates there may be a sarcastic intent, where ten smilies indicates that you are really, really serious....

See, like this:

Rickdogg is gay! smile.gif

This statement is obviously tongue in cheek, because it elicits a quick smile from the person speaking and nothing more...

Ricky is gay! blush.gifblush.gifblush.gifblush.gifblush.gifmad.gifmad.gifmad.gifcool.gifcool.gif

Here the ten smilies are an indication that the statement is true, and that after my initial shock at the discovery, I felt angry that I didn't take him up on his offers sooner, then realized as long as I wore my sunglasses when I went to visit him no one would know it was me...

So it's clear to all present from your ten grinning smilies, that you really ARE seeking applicants for the role of big, strong man to lift heavy things.... blush.gif

At least you know you don't have to field more PM's with pics of Meth's pecs... cool.gif

Why is this lame conversation under "Pedigree"???? What happened to talking about the comic book hobby and collecting? These posts have become more and more tedious to read.... Lately there have been very few insightful posts! I I fear that many knowledgeable collectors will start to shy away from this sight due to the fequent drivel that tends to hijack posts that start out interesting...and only end up arguing about icons; boasting about how much one can dead lift; or flirting!

2 things happened to this thread:

1) Someone mentioned sex.

2) A female was present.

Those are the facts of the case. And they are undisputed. (Name the movie and the actor who said that!)

According to the laws of our occasionally great nation, this thread had to be hijacked. it was unavoidable.

Kevin Bacon in "A Few Great Actors" of course.... tongue.gif

And in reference to the question of thread hijacking, I personally do not view this situation as hijacking at all. Thread hijacking is when the first or second response to a post is completely off-topic and destructive. Someone posts looking for HG copies of Archie's Madhouse and the next reply is someone trying to get people to look at their auction of Beanie Babies. Or someone replies to a post about GI Joe with info about cleaned comics.

But when the subject changes after several posts, that's completely different. It's normal for threads to drift away from the original topic after a period of time. This happens entirely on its own with no malicious intent.

It's no different from a conversation at work that begins with the health of Shaquille O'Neal and drifts through NASCAR, the weather, what the kids want for Christmas and how hot the new secretary is, before ending with plans to meet at the bar after work. The fact that the conversation included other topics doesn't diminish the participants' interest in sports. And the off-topic comments here are examples of comraderie between fellow comic collectors.

The list of forum topics is not a classroom syllabus to be followed precisely. And if it were, I think you would see far fewer people discussing comics here. I, for one, enjoy the fact the most of the people here are pretty damn cool in addition to their interest in comics. I like to think that most of the people here are folks I would enjoy sitting and having a beer with, talking about a variety of topics...

Some wandering off-topic is inevitable. As we've discussed and debated the nuances of CGC grading, crash or no crash, legitimacy of certain sellers and the market in general, the number of uncovered topics of substance does decline. Also, some joking adds to the atmosphere of the board.

Otherwise, posting here would be as much fun as a trip to the dent...... ahhh, well... you get my drift. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif
